Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 120A little down at the ears
The air conditioning refurbishment is STILL going on! The bathroom fixtures are getting tired, the entire hotel feels a bit "down in the dumps". I love the location. I don't like the overall comfort. The hotel needs more than a face lift.

Trip Type: Business Review 2 of 120I would stay here again
A beautiful boutique hotel with courteous service. The room was small but comfortable for a single traveler, and the bed was great. Nice location within walking distance of many attractions. My only complaint was that I had continued problems with the room keys.

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 120Lovely hotel
The location was great, rates were lower than the conference rate at a nearby hotel. The room was quiet, clean. Not such a great view, but that was OK. The staff was always extremely helpful and friendly.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 120Great room and location for the price
Very close to Michigan Ave and the Hancock bldg, and the price was reasonable.

This was a great hotel. Rooms have been recently remodeled...wonderful service, heavenly bed, and immaculate bathrooms. Will certainly go back.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 120Good Value
Very friendly and helpful staff. Windows need to be washed. Newly renovated rooms, however it is a older hotel. Still installing central air system. Nice restaurant in hotel. Coffee in the lobby.

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 120Great location on restaurant row
The Whitehall is located just off Rush St., the restaurant row of Chicago's loop. Great food is just steps away from the door. Great old 1920's setting, comfy rooms and thorough service. The hotel is undergoing some construction as of this date (Sept 2009) and so suffers from some daytime noise, but seems on track to be itself shortly.

The hotel was very nice and worth every penny. Only issue I had was finding affordable parking.

Trip Type: Business Review 11 of 120The Whitehall is clean but it is not a 4-star hotel
This is a 3-star hotel at best. As on my stay, 8/31/09, it was undergoing renovations. It is an older property and the rooms and furnishings are ready for upgrading. Location is great and convenient but compared to the other 4-star options in the area, this property falls short.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 120Location Location
Great location, nice hotel. Service people very friendly. I was out and about during my stay, and the hotel generally was a comfortable place to come back to. It has an old-fashioned charm. However, I had the feeling I got stuck with a lesser room because I bought through Hotels. When I checked in they said they were full and my room had been assigned already - it was a bit dark on a low floor in a corner on an alley. You couldn't see the TV from the bed. As I was there for several days, I think I could have/should have been given a better room - and in retrospect wish I had asked to be moved. But it did provide me with a good base for doing all the Chicago sightseeing. Cafes, shops, and restaurants are only a few steps away.

Trip Type: Business Review 14 of 120Great Boutique Hotel
Situated in the heart of the Goldcoast, the Whitehall offers excellent service, clean updated rooms, a nice bar and restaurant, and excellent value for the money. This was my third stay there, all of which were very satisfactory.

Trip Type: Business Review 15 of 120It was a very 'Homey" stay
From the quaint lobby, the old-world decor, even the snug elevators, the Whitehall lacks the big-hotel sterile feeling that its corporate brethren exude. Great location, attentive staff, will be my choice from now on for a downtown Chicago hotel.
