Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 11Good Value and central location
The Avatar was recently remodeled and is very functional and central for what i need. My corporate HQ is a couple of blocks away so it saves time for me to stay here. Also, much less expensive that staying at the Hyatt or Marriot. A few small items that they need to still work out, but a good value for the money!

Trip Type: Business Review 2 of 11Fantastic Service and Great Value!
This hotel provides free shuttle service to the airport, as well as anywhere else that you would like to go within 5 miles of the hotel. I used this service often to go back and forth to the convention center, etc., and they were always absolutely fantastic about being immediately available. Unfortunately I cut my trip to the airport too close on my way out of town and the shuttle was being used by another guest. However, Rade (hotel staff member) quickly went to get his personal car and raced me to the airport to make certain I didn't miss my flight. Exceptional. The rooms were also very clean, and the bed was so comfortable that I didn't want to go back home to my own bed. A very no frills hotel, but tremendous value for the money.

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 11Great hotel
Located in the hart of Silicone Valley, great rooms (great beds!!), and much cheaper than the usual Marriott's and Hyatt's.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 11Loved it!!
I absolutely loved my stay here. The staff was great! The room was so cute! Even had a sony docking station that i could hook my ipod up to. The staff let me put my freezer packs in their employee freezer so they would be frozen for my lunch the next day. Saturday nights Great America does fireworks and it was nice that i could go sit out by the pool and watch them with a pretty much perfect view... When I arrived back from work my room was clean & towls were replaced. I absolutely will be coming back next time i'm in town!

Trip Type: Business Review 5 of 11Good business hotel in the off-season
The decor is futuristic, the free airport shuttle saved me $15 and the IHOP and Bennigans next door were helpful. Ideal business hotel between Sept-April, after the Great America tourist season. Will gladly stay there again.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 11Much Better Than Expected
The price was great and the hotel was great. Avatar took a boring hotel plan and room and made it something special. Modern look, clean comfortable rooms and a great price. This is my place to stay on business when I go to San Jose.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 11It's actually "Best Western" Avatar Hotel.
I liked somewhat modern "gamer" theme. They have both wired and wireless high-speed internet. And it's right next to IHOP!

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 11Great value!!!
I stayed Fri.-Sat. for a conference at the Santa Clara Convention Center. I too anticipated issues with the renovation but the only thing I noticed was the smell in the lobby. The room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. It was next to a couple of places to eat and had a convenient shuttle to the convention center although you could walk there in less than 10 minutes. The front desk service was excellent and for the price, you cant beat it. Would definitely stay there again.

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 11Don't mind the construction - the room was excellent.
I anticipated construction as there was a warning on Hotels.com. I still booked "The Avatar" as it was the only place available that fit my travel budget. I'm glad I did. Although the lobby area was very dusty and there were rooms in another wing under reconstruction, the room I stayed in more than made up for it. My room was spacious, clean, and had comfortable, quality furnishings that included a movable extension of the desk surface and a comfortable chair that reclined. The internet connection was high-speed and provided good through-put. As it was a wired connection, I attached my router and was able to connect my three laptops simultaneously. The area was quiet enough that I was able to accomplish a fair amount of work during my stay. Note: It is possible that a week-end stay might not be so quiet, as it is just a short walk to an amusement park and a college, but my stay was perfect.
