pool closed!!!

For the price, everything was great... but they should let people know that the pool is closed for remodeling!!! We had our hopes up about going into the pool after a few glasses of wine to just relax....:( Plus at check inn, they even told us the hours of the pool, and when my boyfriend and I went to the pool ( a long walk from our room too) it was closed!!!!

They do charge a Resort Fee!!

They charged us a resort fee even though the pool was closed for renovations. Many other hotels in area without fee!

Great room for the money

Got free tickets for a show too.. The room needs a little sprucing up but it was clean..

Excellent value

For the rate we got, and knowing this is an older hotel we were prepared for it to be a little run down. We were very pleasantly surprised at how well kept it is. They were painting and doing repairs during our visit. All in all great value...friendly staff, clean rooms, right on the strip, and close to the airport. Would recommend and will return again.

Needs Improvement

Although the hotel is going through renovations I was not expecting it to be in such bad condition. Yes, we got a great deal and it is in a great location, but for what we got I would have paid some extra money to stay in a place that was going to be cleaner. Both the bathtub and the bathroom sink were clogged, there was hair all over the floor from the previous guests and there were signs of male bodily fluids on the carpet!! It was disgusting. To top it off we were charged a resort fee. I thought I had paid off my room in full and when I got home I had an additional charge on my credit card for things I never used. I don't think I would ever consider staying there again...renovation or no renovation. I definately would not recommend it either.

Beware! Old and Outdated. In the Midst of Renovation

I had stayed at this hotel over 10 years ago and it felt old and rundown then. It was even worse this time. Our non-smoking room was not available so we were 'upgraded' to a mini suite that was a partially used smoking room. The room reeked of stale smoke. The bathroom tile was dingy and stained even next to our pink toilet! The furniture was too uncomfortable and small to sit on but we had a great view and the staff was friendly. If you want to be at the end strip and don't care about odor or discomfort this is the place for you. And by the way, if you get a new room starting the Spring of '10 that we saw in the photos at check in you'll be very pleased.

Tropicana

The decor is pretty outdated, but the service is very friendly. We told the concierge that it was our anniversary and we recieved a free upgrade to a jaccuzi suite! The room was large and comfortable. I will definitely stay at the Tropicana again.

Good For Money

The location was great and the cost was next to nothing. We got free tickets to a magic show and won $30 on our way out of town, which nicely covered the shuttle to airport. Was transferring from other hotel that was off strip, so last minute accomadations were easy! Also was very amused by the mirrors on walls and ceiling surrounding bed.

Huge Disappointment!

The room was very outdated, moldy and rusty. The carpets were discusting in the room and hallways. We could not wait to check out...

Room was warm and humid

Nice hotel, but air conditioning was not really working. We did call the front desk and they did respond immediately, but again cold wasn't fillin g our room.

Unexpected rudeness

The employees there were the rudest i've ever encountered. The lady at the check-in was the worst. She told me that there would be a service charge or 8.95 per day but not what it was for. She shoved a paper at me and told me 2 read it. she could of taken the time to tell me why i was being carged this instead she had said that it was part of the arrangement that was made with Hotels.com and that i must pay it. Had i known that I was to pay this I wouldn't have booked a room at that hotel I would have gone to a much better one further down the strip.

Need improvement

Carpets were very dirty, only 3 towels for 2 people. Maids were very loud and shouting to each other in the morning.
