A little too pricey

The room was very plain and a bit austere for the price. This was our "splurge" night in Barcelona and although the location was absolutely perfect (right in the thick of the fun and games of Las Ramblas) we were disappointed by the minimalism of the room furnishings

Great location

Right on the Rambles...close to everthing. Rooms looked updated and were very clean. Great value!

Outstanding hotel in a great location

This is the perfect hotel to stay in when you visit Barcelona. The hotel staff was courteous and very accommodating. I requested an iron for a dress shirt and it was delivered in 10 minutes. They were very knowledgeable about all of the local attractions and shops and more than willing to help. The location could not be better, right in the middle of the Ramblas. Despite the fact that we were right in the heart of all the action, the hotel windows are well insulated and we had no problem sleeping - during the day or night! If you visit Barcelona, this is your hotel!

great locotion

Rambla is center of activities. City tour bus right up the street. Dinning and shopping right out front door.

Staff very helpful and nice. Great location. Hotel could be improved with new carpets and bedding. Room was very warm and the air conditioner did not work since it was not yet hot enough outside.

You Won't be Dissapointed

I give the Royal Ramblas a better than average rating. The room was larger than most European hotel rooms in its class. Affordable, modern, clean and well-maintained, the property is centrally located on La Rambla, a stone's throw from Placa Catalunya which is the transportation hub of the city. Because of street noise (which there is plenty of), most travel guides advise against booking a room facing the front of the hotel. I would agree with this recommendation, although my accommodation was forward-facing (not by choice). However, contrary to this advice and with the exception of the newlyweds rocking the boat in an adjoining room, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I did not hear a single sound from the commotion three floors below. The windows are double-paned and the silence was a welcomed relief. Beware that if you travel to Barcelona during the summer month's you will have to deal with hoards of tourists. Your eyes will be assaulted by litter and unsightly graffiti which, for the most part, is confined to La Rambla. Otherwise, Barcelona is a beautiful, clean and unique city (although the tourist are still everywhere and unavoidable. Try to be up and out by 7:30 AM to keep one step ahead of the masses). If you like to crank down the air conditioning you will not be disappointed (my wife set the thermostat on snow). If it is important to you, the bathroom is roomy and the towels are large, soft and very absorbent. A negative is that they ration the toilet paper, which has the texture and feel of wax paper. You will be provided two rolls, which, if you choose to binge on the exotic local cuisine, may not be enough. My suggestion is either bring your own or build up a "stockpile" by hiding what is left over after your first night on the town. Not to panic, housekeeping will replace the "used" toilet paper in the morning. Facial tissues (i.e.: Kleenex) were not provided, unless you consider the miniscule packet of "sand paper" an adequate substitution. A

Gave me a name of a restaurant that I would not reccomend. Pricey and very limted menu. Only attribute was it was walking distaance from the hotel. Also little help in getting the luggage from the lobby to your room. Shower was great

Very very loud

On a very very busy street and the noise level is almost unbearable. Cannot open your windows at night and sleep because of the sound level. There in March and no a/c working so needed air. Bathroom floor could have been cleaner. Front desk not very helpful unless you ask specific questions.

Outstanding hotel

Great hotel. We loved it. The room was very stylishly decorated but we did have a few concerns as travelors. The closet was almost impossible to get to. No security bar in the shower. The safe did not open in our trial run so we did not use it. No ice bucket in the room. But service was great, the room was very clean, the staff was very helpful, the beds were good, the towels were great, and we felt very safe and this is important when you travel. Thanks for a wonderful stay in Barcelona. We loved the city!

Noisy

A little noisy at night. Could hear people in the hall at night. Given the location, age of the building ( as all others are old too) it was expected. Overall great location, clean. Compared to others ( friends stayed elsewhere) we definitely got more for the dollar ( Euro) and better. Many others we saw were just plain bad.
