Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 45Fantastic Hotel
We went to KC to celebrate an anniversary and found the Raphael to be a romantic, friendly and clean hotel. Staff were extremely accomodating and helpful and the location was perfect!

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 45Sweet stay in renovated Suite!
The Raphael is located ideally near Country Club Plaza and an easy drive to many other KC attractions. Complimentary valet parking is included and is quick and convenient. The hotel has been completely renovated (well, the elevator still has the old carpet and wall treatment) and shines. The Chaz, the in-house restaurant is gorgeous and has a great and affordable (for an upscale hotel) breakfast. The staff was very helpful and we felt like we were coming home each time we returned. There was coffee, tea and cookies in the lobby each afternoon and a terrific in-room coffee maker. The only challenge we had during our stay was getting a comfortable temperature during the first night there, but soon we figured out the right combination of thermostat settings and slightly open window and did fine. The linens are great, fluffy towels and high-end restroom amenities. There was no blow dryer in our room, not sure if this is universal. Loved the free wi-fi, USA Today, sitting area in the room and the flat-panel TV. Lindt Truffles left by housekeeping each day were a nice treat. Loved it - fantastic location and great value for a romantic get-away!

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 45Perfect Place to Stay
This hotel was great! The room was very large and the decor was beautiful. The hotel staff was friendly, courteous, and quick to respond to any request. The king size bed was the most comfortable bed I've EVER slept on in a hotel. The LCD TV in the room was also a welcome touch. This hotel is in a GREAT part of town, right next to the Country Club Plaza. There are dozens of places to eat and shop all within walking distance of your room. If you want to stay in Kansas City this is the place to stay.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 45A Bit Disappointing, Even after Remodel
My husband and I stayed at this hotel to celebrate our anniversary and birthdays. We chose the Raphael due to its proximity to the Plaza and other reviews raving about the recent renovations. I have to say, we were a bit disappointed. We had a small suite with a separate living room and bedroom. The furniture in the living room was already showing wear, the TV wasn't working and we had to call maintenance to bring it to their attention. The curtains in both the living room and the bedroom were missing hooks and were gaping open at the end. I also noticed a stain of dried food on one of the bedroom curtains. I agree with other reviewers in that the bathroom is quite small and it was difficult for my husband and I to get ready at the same time. My husband didn't like the fact that there wasn't a door separating the living room and the bedroom, which diminished our sense of privacy. My husband also didn't like the fact that there wasn't a hotel gift shop available to purchase sundry items. On a positive note, we had room service on our last morning there and our breakfast was very good. All in all, we were expecting a very elegant hotel, and we left a bit disappointed.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 45Great location
The hotel was styled after the smaller European hotels so compaired to American's normal HUGE standards the design was kind of small. However, the room was very nice with a seperate bedroom and living area. The livingroom furniture could have been nicer, but wasn't bad. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was great! Hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful! The only downside is that they borrow their fitness and pool facilities from the Intercontinental across the street, so you have to walk. It was worth the walk though because both the pool and firness area were some of the best I've seen! For the price I would definitly reccomend!
