Trip Type: With Friends Review 1 of 40Fantastic location, okay rooms
The Strand Palace was my home base on a three week trip in Europe. I stayed here three times. It is in a fantastic location. It is close to Covent Garden, the Thames & Trafalgar Square and all public transportation. The concierge staff is excellent. The pictures of the rooms on this site are of club rooms, not standard rooms. Standard rooms are older and not as nicely decorated. Please note that the standard rooms do not have in-room safes! Single rooms are very small. If you don't spend much time in the room it's fine. But if you are in the hotel a lot you'll feel the size of the room.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 40fabulous location near covent garden!
My friend and I, two American ladies on our own were very impressed with the concierge staff who got us last minute theatre tickets and suggested easy transportation methods. We felt very comfortable in the nearby Covent Garden neighborhood.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 40Do not stay here
We paid an enormous amount of money for two nights at an inadequate hotel. It must have been the hottest two days London has seen because they were warning everyone to carry water. This hotel has no air conditioning in the rooms. For two Americans, air conditioning is a must especially when it's hot. The lack of airconditioning created a miserable stay. We also had to do laundry, and they charged an insane fee for each article. Would never stay here again, or recommend anyone else to stay here.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 40Keep one eye closed
This was my third time at this hotel, last time was 5 years ago. The hotel is now run down. The room carpet was dirty and the bed was shabby and the mattress showed it was in dire need of replacement. Great location but keep one eye closed if you want to overlook the room conditions

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 40Great Location
The only drawback of the hotel is the noise in the rooms facing the street. There are rooms on a courtyard that are quiet and would be preferable. Our room was good sized though another family member's was a bit small. The location couldn't be better. It is within walking distance of several attractions including Westminster, St. Paul's Cathedral, the British Museum as well as numerous theaters. It is in easy walking distance to several tube stations.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 40Excellent Hotel in London
I stayed at The Strand Palace Hotel for 3 nights, April 29 to May 2, 2009. I did not know what to expect as this was my 1st trip to London. I did a lot of research and booked this hotel based upon location. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked in as to what a beautiful lobby and great service I encountered. They had my reservation and showed everything was pre-paid. I was early, but my room was ready. They gave me information on the full English breakfast that was included in the rate and other dining options. My room was a single, with a courtyard view. The bathroom was newly renovated and supplied with beautiful French toiletries. The bed was comfortable and there was a tv, desk and chair and a nightstand. The room was just the perfect size and very comfortable. The location was the best! Right on The Strand and in the area of the London Opera, Lyceum and Old Drury Theatres, Covent Garden Market, stores, two underground stations and plenty of restaurants. I would recomment this property to everyone!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 9 of 40Very Good Hotel
The hotel is very centrally located and was a great value. The room was nicely decorated and had a very comfortable bed which can be rare in London. The were only a couple of issues to be aware of. First was the extra cost of the wireless internet access. It is not included in the room rate and was quite expensive, however it did work well. The other issue is the rooms could be a bit stuffy as the windows do not fully open. They did provide a small fan but there is no air conditioning and the rooms could be quite warm in the summer.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 40Great Value
Have stayed at the Strand Palace several times and have consistently found it to be a great value for my money. You can't beat the location (easy walk to Trafalgar Square, West End Theatres and just around the corner from Covent Garden). Staff has always been friendly and helpful.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 13 of 40great location and value for money
As a woman traveling alone, I was looking for a hotel that was reasonably priced and that was located in a neighborhood that would still be busy and safe in the evening when I returned from my activities. The Strand Palace delivered on both counts - the price was fantastic, much better than other rates I was able to find, and the hotel itself offers a number of perks like a great lobby with lots of couches and places to read/hang out, pay Internet in the business center, a bar and food open really late at night, 2 breakfast buffets, etc. Overall the staff provided excellent service also. The "worst" things about the hotel: (1) my individual room - it was quite small with pretty thin walls, a twin bed, tiny bathroom, and (interestingly) a plasma TV. If I had planned to spend a lot of time in the room that might have been an issue, but it was perfect for a place to sleep at night. (2) we had a fire alarm go off in the middle of the night, and i thought the staff did an ok but not excellent job of addressing concerns of some of the guests before returning to their rooms.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 15 of 40A good, basic room
The Strand Palace is a no frills hotel. It's clean, comfortable but basic. The room I had was tiny but I wasn't planning to spend time in my room. The location is excellent, you can walk to just about everything saving you money on the high cost of London transport these day. the only problem is that the breakfast is too expensive. Go somewhere else to eat.
