Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 9Great Location, nice hotel
the best part of the stay here at the Strand was the location - near a lot of pubs, restaurants, shopping and tube. The hotel itself is very nice, room was great and staff great too. I would definitely stay again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 9Great location, great price
Very satisified with this hotel. It is centrally located - near theatres, restaurants, Covent Gardens, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square. A little further are Chinatown and Soho. Westiminster and Big Ben are a bit more distant, but a good walk if you're in the mood, if not, Charing Cross station is a few blocks away. Due to its central location, there is some traffic noise - if you can, get an interior room. The windows do have wooden shutters, a nice touch to keep out light and noise. Rooms are adequate, baths a little dated, but clean. Staff was very helpful and the concierge arranged tranportation for us, as well as secured some great theatre tickets. For what I paid, this hotel was a very good value.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 9Serves some people's needs
If you need a hotel in the middle of a busy part of London...this will serve. It's like any hotel in NY. Lots of rooms located down highly-trafficked, if-not ratty looking hallways. The room was small, modern-dorm-style with a TV mounted on a wall. The breakfast buffet was simply brutal, but to be fair, we got there almost toward the end. This hotel will serve some people who need something reasonably priced and they just need a bed to sleep in. Compared to the two Marriott properties we've stayed at in London, this is a difference experience.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 9Great location
Room was small and there was no air conditioning but there was a fan in the closet. The windows also opened only 4 inches. Hotel is at a great location. I would not complain since we used the hotel only to sleep and take a shower. We were sightseeing all day.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 9It worked.
Pictures show a contemporary feel--it is nothing close to it. It is still clean, and well-kept though. Carpets are old, and bathroom needed re-caulking. For the price, I suppose the single room was suitable. Internet prices are outrageous!!!! $30/£15 for only one hour. Im particular my hallway was very very chilly. Normally I'm not one to complain, but my toes were about to fall off, so I contacted the front desk and an additional space heater was added to my room very quickly to accomodate my needs. Hallways only had small spaces heaters to warm. Otherwise a clean, big (single) bed, nice bathroom fixtures, and old furntiure. It worked.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 9Good hotel in a great location
Excellent hotel for London Tourists: Fantastic location, walking distance to many sites, theatres, bus & subway lines, etc. Very good breakfast bar. Nice hotel, clean, with attentive staff. But definitely 3 star (not more). NOTE: No air conditioning (in London that is only an issue 2 months or so).

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 9a great location, but....
The hotel is extremely well situated for business or sight seeing. As a clean, no frills hotel the Strand palace would be more than adequate, but, for the hype and the price, we were led to expect a little more than bare bones. The room was clean, but small. Drawer space was minimal, and no minibar or room safe was available in what was supposed to be a superior double room. If you don't mind over-paying for a clean simple room in a great location then this hotel will work for you.
