Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 32Small, but convenient
The Strand Palace is in a great location for tourism. Rooms are small and can become stuffy (their is a fan in the closet). Breakfast is a must.

Trip Type: Business Review 2 of 32Strand Palace Hotel, London, UK, October 2009
Good points: - Great location - Generally helpful and efficient staff - Good bed - Generally clean - Adequate English breakfast, with well-managed traffic flow during a period of heavy occupancy Bad points: - Expensive internet access - I would have expected a "Club Superior" room to be better furnished (but I may be insufficiently familiar with UK hotel standards) - No air conditioning. (My room overlooked The Strand itself, hence was a bit noisy with the window opened. The window opened only three inches or so, admitting the noise but little ventilation. I'm glad it was October; in summer, it might have been unbearable.) All considered... good value in one of the most expensive cities on earth, but I would not book during the summer.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 32Best Value
For location and general quality, this is the best deal I've found in over a dozen visits. It may be, however, that this hotel doesn't have air conditioning--which wasn't a problem when I was there but would be a problem in July and August, I suspect.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 32Overall very pleasant!
The hotel could not be better located, I will say that right away. And it is very clean, relatively quiet, and the breakfasts are very good. The room had a tea kettle with tea, coffee, and biscuits which I always appreciated after a long day's touring. The room was absurdly small, but nicely appointed. I had an inner room which was a bit claustrophobic, and to tell the truth, when I had an hour or so to kill, I would take my book or paperwork down to the lobby because the room was too tiny to feel comfortable for lounging around. It was fine for sleeping, though. The registration staff were efficient but not terribly friendly or helpful. The concierge didn't seem to be all that interested in helping anyone. I asked about a ticket to Phantom of the Opera and was told that it would be impossible because I was staying during the half term holiday and the show was sold out. But I walked a few blocks to the Leicester Square ticket booth and got a decent ticket right away. And when I asked about the night bus to Paddington so I could catch my plane out, the concierge told me that "Number 15 goes there," which is true, but so does Number 23, which runs more often, and then I had to ask him if he carried bus tickets -- he didn't offer to sell me one, and then I had to ask where the stop was for Number 15; he didn't volunteer that either. So all in all, I would stay there again, but don't think of it as your home away from home where they are going to be welcoming and warm.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 32Too small and hot
Although the location on the Strand is excellent and the price reasonable for London, this room was so craped that it required walking sideways to reach the bathroom and was unacceptably hot, especially for April. The fan could not work well because there were insufficient plugs. Other rooms in the past have been better.

You can not beat the location for the price I recieved via Hotels.com. The Hotel staff was friendly and visable. Rooms are a bit small - I can't remember the last time I slept in a twin bed, and the walls are thin as you can hear other guests conversations clearly.

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 32What You See Is What You Get on Hotels.com
I booked 4 days / 5 nights on a limited budget. Being my frist time to London, my friends were super skeptical about the hotel because of the price. It is a 3 star hotel: It has all the basics you need: Single bed, heater, Tv, phone, internet, shower, hair dryer, etc. The location was great and I could walk to the tube which was 3 blocks away, the many many theaters, and walking district to China town, Old Compton Street (Gay area), and lots of dining off of Bedford Road (1.5 blocks from hotel). What you see on their webpage is what you get.

Trip Type: Business Review 11 of 32horrid experience
We had two issues with this hotel: front desk service and the extremely small room size that made the room uncomfortable (in addition to the hard, lumpy bed...) 1. We had booked a superior class room; at checkin , there were none available. Rather than explain the situation and offer to rectify the problem the next day, we were just checked into the lower grade room and had to create a lot of hassle before were upgraded the next day. 2. Rooms are SMALL. No room for a chair. The smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Inadequate for 2 people.

Trip Type: Business Review 12 of 32Underwhelmed my very basic expectations
Looked great on the website - arrived in the lobby after running the gauntlet of smokes clustered around the door, the receptionist was fairly pleasant and was reticent when she answered yes to my "I thought the hotel was recently refurbished?". If it was then recently means maybe 20 years ago - the room I had was scruffy, the furniture chipped and scratched, the bath was so old and tired there was no shine left in the enamel and the tile grout looked very grubby. I like to find what I expect - and use this site a great deal for my rooms in London and Frankfurt. If it was summer, no airconditioning and small windows at the top of the building would have made it very uncomfortable.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 32great location
I have stayed here for a number of years (about 50% of the time I visit London). It is expensive but a great location. They are remodeling the hotel and it was badly needed so if you get e remodeled room its fine, if not it's not too good.
