Great deal

Pretty good hotel. It's still on the renovation, but we got a room on the fifth floor, which cannot hear any noise. Great room and great room service. With the second day price half off and the convenient location in New Orleans,it's a great deal.

New room

This was our second stay at this hotel. The bed, TV, chairs, and bathroom were new and clean. The lobby and restaurant were under constraction but didn't bother us. The location is great, one block away from Canal street. The room was bit small, but the bathroom was almost as big as the room. People at the front desk were super nice. There is no free parking for the guests like most other hotels. The hotel has their own parking lot which was full when we checked in. They told us to park our car at this parking lot that was one block away and slightly cheaper than their hotel parking lot. I would say our stay was totally worth the price.

Great value for the money

Even though the hotel is in renovations, the rooms were very nice. The beds were comfortable and it had a flat screen TV. I higly recommend this hotel for its location which is 3 blocks away from Bourbon St and the value your get for your money.

Excellent Location for the Money

The only problem I had with my room was that it smelled a little musty and the hotel was under construction so we couldn't use their parking garage. Other than that, Bourbon street was literally 2 blocks away, the front desk service was very good and our room was very nice for the money (other than the musty smell). I would definitely recommend it to anyone that wants to go to New Orleans to see Bourbon street and the French Quarter and not pay 500 dollars a night.

AWESOME

Ok People listen to me. I found this hotel on hotels.com and was very sceptical about doing it. The whole family was, this was our first time. When we got to New Orleans and got to the hotel the Staff immediately helped me in where to park my car. There was a family of about 10 people up at the check-in counter causing us to not be able to check in but one of the staff memebers came out from behind the counter and came to us waiting on the lobby. He had us checked in and our room key in hand within 5 minutes. It was AWESOME!! We passed by a few areas of construction that were no big deal and headed straight to our room. This hotel was very clean and had a very pretty atmosphere. Upon entering the room it was very clean, smelled GOOD, and was very updated with a flat screen hanging on the wall. We needed a cot, they had it there within 15 minutes. We needed food delivered they had a variety of menus from local places to get food. Everyone was so nice and helpful and we felt completly safe. I will return to the Baronne and that is a fact!!!! Very accessable to anything in the New Orleans area. Just very impressed.

Qualifies as a really 'smart' stay

I typically stay in the French Quarter but since I was going down for New Year's Eve and the Sugar Bowl, most of the Quarter hotels were already full and/or charging special-event rates. The Baronne Plaza, which is just one block off the Quarter at the corner of Baronne and Common in the Central Business District, looked to be the best bet. The Good: I've never had friendlier service. One of the hotel's staff members gave up her own employee parking space to me because the parking deck (which is quite small) was full. Everyone bent over backwards to make us feel welcome. Our room looked recently renovated and was nice. Comfortable beds. Bathroom shower head was a little disappointing but not terribly so. TV remote had dead batteries, which they replaced on request. We called once for extra towels and housekeeping was at our door in 3 minutes. Fast elevators. Best climate control system in a hotel I've ever had -- quick to cool or heat depending on what you wanted. And the walk to the Quarter was virtually nothing. We were able to make it from the hotel to the French Market in less than 15 minutes. The Bad: Renovations continue, and there is no on-site dining. Given the economic status of New Orleans in general and the immediate area, I bet things take awhile. It does appear the rooms that aren't yet renovated, however, are simply closed off for the time being. No one we talked to had gotten an old room. The parking deck is too small to accommodate everyone, but there is other parking nearby. Also, the layout of this very old hotel has about half the rooms facing inside, toward the central lobby, and there's not much of a view. The Ugly: If you do park in the Baronne's deck, be prepared to pay a steep privilege. Our parking costs were equal to 30 percent of our nightly bill. Overall: A very good value given the time of year and what we got for our money. We will definitely consider the Baronne Plaza the next time we visit.

Beat up and dirty

This hotel is very run down, with a hole in the hallway wall, broken furniture in the room, musty smelling rooms (we had two as the first one the toilet didn't work) and both rooms were dirty. The quality of the cleaning staff work was poor, they didn't leave items on a couple of occaisions (toilet paper, soap) and things didn't work such as electrical outlet for hairdryer (which they fixed the same day) and the tv remote. If you want a clean room at a reasonable price this is not it. If you are willing to accept a dirty room for a reasonable price then you may consider this. This comes across as a hotel in a good location that is pinching every penny to stay alive.

Short Walk to French Quarter

Front desk staff very friendly, courteous and helpful. Sunday night pricier than Saturday for some reason.

Great for the Price

Hotel staff was wonderful. Helped us park, showed us to our room, gave us directions and helped us greatly. The only issue that we had was the drunken college kids screaming for "Gary" at 5:30 in the morning. Granted I understand that it was during Mardi Gras, but this was a family vacation and it was a little bothersome. Other than that, the hotel was wonderful and we would recommend it to anyone. P.S. The fitness center wasnt fantastic by any means
