Great location for travel, nice staff

We stayed here for the last night of our honeymoon, since we were flying back to the states out of Barcelona. It is just next door to the train and metro stations, which made it super convenient for easy travel to Las Ramblas and the airport. The concierge, Miguel, was exceptionally friendly and informative. He helped us navigate the train and metro. The breakfast buffet was overpriced, but had pretty good food and a large variety of it. The view from the top-story restaurant is not to be missed. Really enjoyed soaking in the large bathtub. Our only complaint is that when we called down to get an iron delivered our room, we never got one. But otherwise, everyone was friendly and our stay was very pleasant.

Executive or Standard Double room?

Thank you for other reviewers of this hotel. I booked it based upon the reviews. Just to recap. Great location right across street from Sants Metro station. Beautiful facilities but the neighborhood is more of a business area, not much night life. I booked 2 rooms: 1 Executive Double and 1 Standard Double. The standard double room was bigger both the room and bathroom were bigger. The only difference I saw was the Executive Double had robe and slippers and it had a nicer view (higher floor). In my opinion, get the Standard Room and save a few bucks.

Okay for the Money

The staff was very accomodating and very helpful. As previously posted by others, the bed was very hard. Easy access to Metro (Sants Station right across the street). Overall, a pretty good, but not outstanding experience. We would recommend to others, but warn them about the beds.

The best hotel in the entire world

I went to this hotel, and i loved everything about it; it's beautiful! The restaurant at the top has an incredible view of the city with excellent service and delicious food. The bathrooms have feature in which you can play the TV audio while you bathe. How delightful. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and fluent in english. The rooms were quaint and homey. Stay here.

Well run

We were pleased with everything except two things. The first was that the was a hefty fee if you wanted to use their work out room and the other was the beds were very very hard. It was our ist trip to Spain and have nothing to compare it with. Overall we were very pleased.

Great Location, Outstanding Price

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and we were completely satisfied with our accomodations. First, the location of the hotel is outstanding. It is literally right next to the Sants-Estacio, one of the biggest metro/train stations in Barcelona. If you need to take a train out of town for a daytrip or if you just need to catch the metro, this station is ideal. Also, sightseeing buses congregate near this station as well. There's also a Hertz across the street in case you need to rent a car while you're there. Next door to the hotel is a decent-sized supermarket for all your grocery store needs. Second, the price was right. Considering it's a four star hotel, our rates were very affordable for out 7 night stay. Third, our accomodations were quite nice. Our room was larger than most european hotel rooms, dare I say, nearly the size of what you find in the states. The bathrooms are furnished with marble adding a nice touch. One potential drawback, though, is that the floors are also marble and they do get a little cold in the winter if you're one to walk around barefoot. There's a bar on the first floor and a nice restaurant, Visual, on the top floor. We didn't get a chance to try it though. Finally, the staff was great. We dealt with several individuals working the front desk and they were all extremely nice. They assisted us in making reservations, getting our safe unlocked, and when I sprained my ankle, provided me with a pair of crutches and a taxi cab for a ride to the hospital. Overall, my wife and I were very satisfied with our experince and would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Happy stay and great hotel

All staff was very helpful and very polite; I was actually pleasantly surprised how helpful everyone was. The only negative comment is that soundproofing of the room was less than good; we could hear the busy traffic outside the room, and, worse yet, we could hear other guests walking on the marble floors (especially women's high-heel shoes).

Great Hotel with good location near train and metro

A great hotel offering an affordable breakfast, amazing views of Barcelona, great service, and easy access to the rest of the city via metro and cab rides for approx 10 Euro each way. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

GREAT Place to stay in Barcelona!

We had an EXCEPTIONAL stay at Torre Catalunya! My wife and I stayed for 1 week, for our honeymoon. There were several aspects of our experience that were absolutely wonderful, including the service, the quality of the room, and the location. Great Service! Everyone from the General Manager to the cleaning staff were extremely courteous and very helpful. Never before have we received so many smiles from a hotel staff. Every need was taken care of - including travel advice, suggestions on dining, and small requests like help with securing tickets to a show. Stunning Rooms Many European hotels have small rooms and modest decor. Our room was beautiful and modern, with a great view of Barcelona (special request). It was extremely clean and spotless, with great lighting and lots of space for luggage. Location is Great The hotel is adjacent to Sant Estacion, which is Barcelona's largest train station. From here, you are just a few stops away from Las Ramblas (10 minutes). Also, you can jump on to any of the frequent metro trains to head to other parts of Barcelona for sightseeing, or leave Barcelona to go out of town. It's the best of both worlds - you're away from the tourist craziness, but close enough with the train station being down the block from the hotel. Finally - don't forget to check out the pool and spa when you are there. It is about 5 or 6 Euros for the day, but totally worth it. And another note of convenience...there is a large grocery store right next door to the hotel, and it is a great place to stock up on some of the basics when you are in Barcelona. Enjoy!

A Spectacular Place to Stay in Barcelona

My wife and I stayed at the Gran Torre Catalunya for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time there. Besides one minor maintenance issue (there is a television speaker in the bath area - the volume knob was missing. They did resolve the issue.) we thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel. I did a significant amount of research on Barcelona hotels before our trip and and am very happen with our decision to stay at the Gran Torre Catalunya. Highly Recommended!! A few tips/comments: - The rooms in the corners of at least some floors are significantly smaller than standard/executive rooms (the ones in most pictures). We were originally given one of these rooms and asked if a larger one was available (like we had seen in the photos). They found another room and it was significantly more spacious (for the same rate). - The staff in the hotel were EXTREMELY helpful, friendly, and all spoke english. If I could give the staff higher than a "5" I absolutely would. For example: we asked late one evening what restaurants might still be open. The staff member assisting us found a restaurant, called to confirm they were open, made a reservation for us, then hailed a cab and gave the driver directions to the restaurant. The staff were always proactive in assisting us with any request. Clearly outstanding. - The location of this hotel is wonderful. There was no need for a rental car as the hotel was literally across the street from Sants Station - a major metro station. I would recommend purchasing a T-10 (ten trips) metro ticket for Zone 1 which will allows easy travel around Barcelona to any of the sites (Ave. Diagonal, Sagrada Familia, Ramblas, Parc Guell, Montjuic, etc). Further locations such as Sitges are outside of Zone 1 but can also be reached by train (RENFE) from Sants Station. Being so close to this station was immensely helpful in getting around town. - Right around the corner from the hotel is a small retail location with a full supermarket which also sells clothing a
