Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 186" The place has style"
This place doesn't try too hard. It has style and substance. Look, for what I paid , I certainly got my money's worth. The 5th Floor feels like home with fireplaces and a living room. The Chelsea location is also part of the appeal. The Tropicana and Ceasar's close by, and right on the beach too. Nice!

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 186Stay here only if your good wit keeping your cool.
My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel the peak of the summer. Hotel of course offered us a unbeatable deal. I arrived at the Chelsea maybe wit to high of expectations. When we arrived for check in there was no kiosk like other hotels to check into..Fine w/e but to wait in a line for 20 min.to inform front desk of our reservation..was still cool, but after checking in with hotel staff at 5pm was told that a room would not be available for at least 2hrs..There goes other reservations!!! We where told that we could sit at the bar..they did relieve us our baggage..The hotel is beautiful for being older..and is convenient to the boardwalk with your own section at the beach..when we finally got our room..it face the motel 6 with a broad view of working girls..Very angry ask for immediate room change..they granted us that with a late check out.so they did score a 5 in customer service..I'm not knocking the hotel but if your are looking for luxurious this is not the hotel..but short of funds but not a motel person..but want a adult atmosphere then the Chelsea is for you JUST KEEP YOUR COOL!!!!

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 186Loved it, will come again, and bring a friend.
My husband and I were looking for a nice place to go and relax. Although it was cold, Atlantic City was our choice. Finding The Chelsea at such a great price was right up our ally. We are not gamblers so we wanted to find a lo-key location that was close to everything. The Chelsea is right at the Boardwalk and next to a casino for that moment you feel you are lucky. We were also able to experience to onsite spa, Sea Spa. It is still fairly new so there were not a lot of services offered. For us that was fine because all I needed was a Deep Tissue Massage. The decor was nice and clean. The retro look and feel was in full effect! From the diner all the way to the spa. We spent a few extra dollers and got the water view room which was well worth it. From what I saw as I was walking around outside, I would not want to look at from my Lux room. The room seemed a tad bit small, the bed was the focal point, and I see why. Forget trying to steale towels or robes, I was trying to figure out how to get the bed out the room. The staff was very courtious and helpful. We have already decided to return next year (in the summer) with friends. Even if you do not eat dinner, you must visit the Chelsea Prime, just for the view! Other reviews complained about the club on the 5th floor. I was not bothered by it at all, I was just upset that I was too tired to enjoy it myself.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 186Old hotel that doesnt seem to own a vacuum
Absolutely NO amenities. No microwave, no coffee, no information in the room about local attractions or hotel offerings. The hotel claims to provide free bikes, but, the bikes are only available for boardwalk use (and only until 10am) and they only have three bikes. We were here on a very very not busy day, and STILL were unable to get the bikes. The hallway to our room appears to have been vacuumed back in the 60s which matches the worn out decor. The bed was comfortable, and our view was nice, however, the complete lack of any amenities (such as ANY sort of "normal" hotel coffee, newspaper, etc) really is a big downer and makes the hotel seem chintzy. We opted out of staying at the similarly-priced, nearby Hilton or Marriott, but now wish we had not.

the room was very nice and comfortable. wish they would have had a coffee maker this was the only thing in my opinion that would have make the stay better.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 186Not recomended
We decided to stay at the Chelsey rather than a casino hotel because it's billed as one of the few four star hotels in Atlantic City and seemed more a destination resort. We were there right after labor day and while I didn't expect the Town to be packed, the Chelsey was deserted. The restaurant, club, bar and spa were never open. If the coffee shop was open at all it was only early in the day. A complaint to the desk was no relief except for them to say the whole town was dead. In truth we found Tropicana and Trump to be moderately busy and almost couln't get a table at Cube Libre with no reservation. I saw so few other people at teh Chelsey I came to wonder how they pay their bills. It's on the Boardwalk, but at the end of the strip, so not very close to many casino hotels. All in al a disappointing stay not only because everything was closed, but the room was less than I expected for a four star property.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 186lovely hotel but felt unwanted there
first i would like to say that we usually stay at casino hotels. We took a chance with this one cause it looks so nice on your website. The pictures were on point. however we didnt realize that there was a charge on ur credit card for everyday u stay that was more than the room rate per day. Which I thought was a joke. Place was lovely but the people there made u feel like u dont belong. everything was close by 10pm which is crazy cause u are in atlantic city the night begins at 10pm. Everytime i tried to go to the spa when its should be open it was close n the gym. and the worst it was far away from the main casino and action. I would recommend if u plan to stay in the room cause it lovely and comfortable but if u want to go have a good time u need to go up to the middle of the casino. almost forgot when they found out where i was from there additude change for the worst.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 186Nice for the Money
Our hotel room was nice. The mirror in the room was cracked and we found a clump of hair in the shower but overall the room was clean. The beds were very comfortable for a hotel bed and the comforter was amazing. The pool area looked nice, it was one of the main reasons we booked our room, but it rained our entire trip so we didn't get to take advantage of it. Overall we enjoyed our stay but definately wouldn't book again unless there was a special rate, you could tell it was an older hotel that had been remodeled.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 186Outstanding Hotel
My boyfriend and I are "hotel snobs." We prefer to stay in a 4 star or higher establishment when we travel. I found The Chelsea by doing an internet search and it seemed to be right up our alley. When we arrived, The Chelsea exceeded our expectations. The staff was very courteous and friendly, the room (in the tower) was beautiful and the bed was super comfortable. We dined in both of The Chelsea's restaurants and were very pleased with both. I would recommend The Chelsea to my friends and family and hope to be able to stay there again in the future!

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 186GREAT HOTEL, newly renovated, trendy, cheap
The Chelsea was a great hotel to stay at, and considering the deal we got, couldn't really ask for more. It is newly renovated, pretty trendy too, all art deco, very classy and the location was fantastic. It is located right on the boardwalk strip, next to all of the major casinos. Staff was friendly, and very accommodating. If you don't want to stay at a casino hotel in Atlantic City, then this is the place for you. If you really want to stay at a hotel casino, then you'll have to pay a bit more and will only get a basic room like any other.....The Chelsea was definitely a much higher standard of decor and comfort. Two pools, salt water and fresh, several bars, restaurants etc... Stay here!

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 186Getaway Resort
I went with my boyfriend for a two day/night getaway. I wanted to relax by the sea. It was great for that. My boyfriend's brother and his girlfriend came on a whim the day after us and also got a room at the Chelsea through Hotels.com and paid less. During the week this late in the season, with not-so-great weather, it seems reservations may not be necessary. They were upgraded free of charge when they checked in from the Annex to the Tower when the person at the desk heard us say we were staying at in the Tower. Check-in and out was no problem and we got a late check out at 1:00. We were able to use the garage and facilities for the rest of the day after checking out. ROOM We stayed in the Luxe Tower. The room was nice. Big, partial ocean view (even though I cheaper booked a city view room.) Very comfortable bed. Plasma television with Direct TV. No tub but good shower. the water pressure and temp was fine. Housekeeping prompt. We put the "service please" tag on the door at 8:30 and came back at 11:00 or so and found the room cleaned with fresh towels and more shampoos and such. I would have liked a coffee maker in the room. CASINOS/LOCATION We don't gamble much and spent just a couple hours a day in the Tropicana and the Taj Mahal. The Tropicana was better for us because it was next door to the hotel and had a younger crowd, less obnoxious slot / video poker machines. Since we took ACADEMY bus to AC from NYC, it was perfect timing to get the bus home from right next door. To the right is the quieter end of the boardwalk and much nicer neighborhoods. A few blocks away are the outlets and a great Mexican restaurant that far surpasses the offerings on the boardwalk, Pancho's Taqueria. Also nearby are liquor stores, groceries, and dollar stores to pick up incidentals at the prices locals pay. BIKES The best thing were the included bikes, available from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the warm months. We're not usually early risers at home but we got up at 7:30-8:00 to take

Great room for the money, the room had a great ocean view and was very clean. I would recommend this hotel to friends.
