outstanding hotel

excellent service. very friendly and helpful staff. excellent location.

Small but beautiful rooms.

It was a very stylish, yet had small rooms. In a very quiet, beautiful neighorhood, although not 100% convenient for riding the metro (it was a 10 minute walk to 2 metro stops). Friendly staff, however one small complaint... We returned one evening to find our bed unmade but our tip was taken... I'm sure it was a mistake.... We already have and will recommend this hotel to others.

Outstanding Service, Close to Metro, Very Nice

The hotel exceeded my expectations. In a very nice neighborhood, 10 minute walk to the metro. Staff was very accommodating - manager upgraded us to a larger room whene he saw we were travelling with a young child. Also credited our account at check out to take a breakfast charge off for my son. Both instances were prompted by staff - without me asking. Very impressive. The room was small, but very nicely appointed and clearly recently renovated or updated.

Excellent Service, Very Nice Room

The hotel service was outstanding. Very nice and accommodating. When we were checking in, the manager noticed we were travelling with our son and upgraded our room at no charge. The rooms are on the small side, but comfortable and well appointed with modern bathrooms and nice bedding. 10 minute walk to the metro. Very nice neighborhood, short walk to Dupont Circle. Upon checkout the clerk noticed we had been charged for two breakfasts - one for my son and one for me...she credited my son's breakfast without me asking. Super experience - highly recommended.

Great room for the money

Botique like hotel, very fun furnishings and great bathroom (may be small for some, but I liked it). Very European

Very good hotel

My wife and I spent a week at the hotel and we both liked it very much. It is in a very good location i.e. nice neighborhood, close to buses and the metro and walking distance to D.C. proper (1.5-2 miles). The only small negitive comment that I have is: because of the small size of the rooms, you have to live out of your suitcase. But it wasn't a big deal. When we take another trip back to D.C. we would like to stay at this hotel again.

Great room for the money and location

The hotel is in a great neighborhood, surrounded by embassies. It's several blocks to the Metro stop. We consider that walking distance but I can imagine others would not. The room was small but very nicely decorated. Parking is very limited (maybe 8 spots total) and very small, tight spaces. Our only complaint about the room is there was no fan in the bathroom.

Wonderful

We were very happy at the Normandy and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone. The Metro is 1/2 mile down a sloping hill and past many excellent restaurants and coffee shops. It was a delight to come home each night after long walking to various DC sights to a clean, very well appointed room. It was quiet, located in a neighborhood amongst Embassy's. For the first time in my life I slept soundly my first night in a hotel - the beds were that comfortable. The bathroom was marble tiled with a glass enclosed walk-in shower that was spotless. We look forward to being able to return to DC and plan to stay at this lovely, small hotel again. We think it is a hidden gem.

Tiny room at bargain price

Looking at the floor plan, it seems that we got the smallest room at the hotel --- but, at a very good price. There were NO drawers in which to unload your stuff. The hotel was nearly empty, so it would have been smart marketing to upgrade our room.

staff unfriendly

The hotel was under construction which made it noisy and messy. The lights did not work in our first room and the staff was unpleasant and treated us as if we were in the wrong when we asked to switch to a room that had working bathroom lights.

Cute hotel in wonderful neighborhood for walking!

The hotel more than met our expectations. I was charmed by the decor and extra luxuries like the tearoom! Also, the neighborhood was wonderful for taking a peaceful stroll; rich in restaurants and shops. The hotel was within easy walking distance to the Metro. I would highly recommend this hotel if you enjoy a quaint, European style atmosphere in a quiet but still urban setting.
