Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 246Needs Serious Improvement
I would first like to say that the highlight of our stay at Magnolia was the valet service. Those gentlemen were super professional and very good. It all went down from there. It took us a long time to get our bags, I saw them just sitting in the lobby, we checked in at a very late hour, no reason for the delay, we had to call twice to get them. A bulb was burned out in the bathroom light making it even more difficult to see in an already too dark room. The sheets were an ok thread count, however they didn't fit the mattress properly and half the mattress was showing. They also had holes in them. (The sheets). The hallway carpets were filthy, not sure about the carpet in the guest room, it was a dark color and I wore shoes the entire time. For the price of this hotel these things should not be issues. I think the management might need a review. Whoever manages the valet maybe should work on the hotel.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 2 of 246Great Hotel
I love the bedding, very comfortable, reminds me of my bedding on a cruise. I like that there was internet access in the room. As I brought my laptop and was able to keep up to date of what was going on at home. I like that breakfast was offered but was tired of the same menu each day I stayed which was 5 days.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 3 of 246Great room, great service, except for phone reception
The room was nice, the service of the staff was excellent; the only problem we had was trying to talk to somebody on the phone when we called the hotel, either from outside the hotel or from the room.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 4 of 246Great but...
The Valet was very expensive (24.00 a night) and there is no other place to park in the middle of downtown. The price wouldn't be so bad if they had timely service but it takes 20min to get your car and they will not hold it for longer than 5 min downstairs. I was even given the wrong car (same make, same model) but not my car. Overall, the Hotel Magnolia is nice and I would stay again.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 8 of 246Great room for the money
Great room for the money. Totally exceeded our expectations. Very convenient to Minute Maid Park, downtown resturants and shopping. Took the train to the museum district. The only complaint we had was there were not enough elevators. The weekend we stayed there were numerous weddings, meetings and bachlorette parties going on. Luckily we were on the 5th floor and were able to use the stairs. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 10 of 246Great Hotel
The staff was exceptional and the room was very comfortable. The lobby was not very spacious, but if you don't spend much time there, who cares. The hotel was within walking distance to several attractions and the hotel provided a free shuttle to other downtown locations. It was, overall, a nice place to stay.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 12 of 246Room was outstanding in terms of comfort
Most comfortable bedding I have ever had. It was so nice that I am ordering the same pillows to use at my home. They had a wonderful bar which was family friendly. My only negative comment would be that we made the mistake of ordering room service which was very pricey.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 13 of 246Decent but not great
Overall, it's a nice hotel. The lobby area is very elegant, and well maintained. It has great access to down town Houston, but can be cumbersome if you need to get out of down town. The immediate area is nice, but as with any metropolitan area, a couple blocks walk in the wrong direction can get sketchy quickly. The only option is valet parking, which can add up quickly if you come and go often. There is also a nightly parking fee that we were not told about until we arrived. The room it's self was nice although a little small, and with no convenient place to put a suitcase. The most disappointing thing was the pool. It is about 10 feet wide, and about 30 feet long, and three feet deep all the way across, which is nice if you have small children, but is not big enough to actually swim. The pool area is on the roof, so it has a nice view, but is not very well maintained (there were used towels and empty beer cans and bottles at almost every chair on the deck) and under a day's sunlight the pool heats up very quickly and offers little relief from the heat. So if you are in town for business downtown, or for an event down town, this is a great place to stay. If you are planning on being in other parts of Houston or are planning to use the pool, I would recommend going somewhere else.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 15 of 246Disappointed
We were disappointed to find out that they were going to take out of our debit card a little over $150.00 per room for the deposit. We were told it would be put back on our acount in 5-6 days after we checked out. I wish we would have been warned about this before we bought the rooms through hotel.com.
