Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 28Good value in a convenient and relatively quiet downtown location
While it's not a cheap hotel, compared to other (more expensive) hotels in the area, the Empire Landmark Hotel is a good value in a convenient and relatively quiet downtown location. The hotel and furnishings are definitely dated and not chic, but everything was reasonably clean and functional.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 28Room stunk like bad air freshener
I would stay at this hotel again except for the overwhelming smell of bad air freshener in our room. It was so strong that we could taste it. The location near Stanley Park and Robson Street along with the fantastic views from every direction were a definite plus. We were on the 20th floor. We brought our bikes and the location was convenient to both Stanly Park and the seawall bike path to the False Creek/Grandville area. You must have a drink or dinner in the revolving restaurant up 43 stories on top to enjoy the view. There is no cover charge if you are staying a the hotel. The room furnishings. bathroom etc haven't been replaced since the '80s although the bed was comfortable and the duvet covers were new. The room was large too. The service was fine although we mostly had contact with the bell boy to get our bikes out of storage. He was great.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 28Parking
All was good till we checked out and had two parking tickets on my car. I paid to park at the hotel. I took both tickets to the front desk, one of the ticket was for Aug 1st the other Aug 2nd one for each day I had the car in the lot. We never took the car out of the lot. The hotel looked at both tickets and said one was not from the Hotels lot from some other lot. They took care of the one ticket but not the other. The tickets are all done on computer when they when to do the ticket they must not have cleared out the last address. Now I'm fighting with the parking company. Not good !

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 28Adequate.... No more than that
The Empire Landmark is indeed a hotel that could stand a thorough renovation. Of course that would mean the price would escalate to cover the required costs. The cost can be considered low if in the mid60sUSD for the location but not the condition of a standard room. If you see it more than that, look elsewhere. Add another 10Can/night for parking if you have a car as it is NOT included despite what previous posts may have indicated. The location was good, the staff reasonable and attentive, the views excellent, the bathroom marginal. The area is walkable and most close by is trending toward Asian as is the hotel clientele. This is not the trendy/ritzy part of Robson street if there even is that anymore...

Hotel location was very good. But hotel is quite old. You can feel it everywhere inside hotel. My room key never worked. I always got it opened by calling somebody from reception. Room looks old. Although city view from the higher floors of the hotel is fantastic. But I think the hotel needs renovation.

It is an older hotel but our room was very clean and comfortable. The location is ideal for exploring downtown Vancouver and it was a good value.

The smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in and quite expensive (3x-5x more than a super 8). It was cheaper than most alternatives in downtown Vancouver and a great location if you want to explore the city. Within walking distance to Stanley park.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 15 of 28Perfect hotel for frugal people wanting close to city
I read many bad reviews for this hotel and was skeptical about making reservations. We loved this hotel. The balcony was incredible, the rooms were large and clean, the location was perfect. This isn't the hotel if you're looking for room service and a spa, but for people looking to get out and see the city and take in an incredible view, this is an outstanding hotel. Best unexpected perk was self parking garage where we didn't have to tip everytime we pulled the car out.
