Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 14a strong 3 star hotel
The good: clean rooms and comfortable bed - good size bathroom with tiled walls, floor and large tub - free decent breakfast with good selection - area quaint - within 50 feet of subway line - no more than 10-15 min journey to almost anywhere in Paris The bad: rooms small but expected - showerhead mount at level of thigh (having to hold showerhead with your hand above your head makes showering unpleasant)- no shower curtain (floor gets wet and slippery) Overall I feel establishment offers very good combo of price and quality - the good easily outweighs the bad - would recommend to friends and family

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 2 of 14Excellent value.
This was my first experience booking a hotel through the site. I was overwhelmingly pleased with the location and service, as well as the price.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 3 of 14Very convenient for Metro goes
A hotel a bit off the beaten path, but you save and the Metro is Literally in front of the hotel. For those new to the city that was an unbeatable perk to this hotel. Staffers speak english, which was a bonus and the breakfast in the morning really saves you some money. Very good. Small, but that was expected.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 4 of 14A Fine Hotel
Our stay here at the Claret has been comfortable and enjoyable. Neither of us has traveled abroad much; so we're not quite sure what to expect with hotels in other countries. Here are some specific observations that might be helpful. 1. The room and bathroom were very clean and adequately spacious. 2. The staff were very accomodating and friendly. They speak English well too. 3. The breakfast is adequate. 4. Semi high-speed internet (up to about 50k/sec download max) was available and relatively stable in our room, but not always consistent (small periods of diminished reception). This has been frustrating for me during Skype internet business phone calls. 5. The hotel is not close to city attractions, and is situated amongst many roadways and railways. To reach the more romantic streets of Paris, one needs either to take the metro (an unromantic means of travel) or walk through bland and sometimes unpleasant streets. I say this to properly set your expecations. The hotel room has somewhat of a romantic feel to it, but the surrounding area lacks this same appeal. So, if you're looking for a romantic location, this isn't it; but if you're practically minded and okay with traveling to get to the romantic areas, this should work excellently for you. 6. That leads me to the next point... proximity to mass transit. As other reviews have mentioned, the Bercy Metro Station -which has easy and quick access to the city center, is right outside the front door (literally). The hotel is also close to the Guar de Leon train terminal. 7. Now that we are familiar with the area and Paris (and are more practically minded people), we would likely stay here again.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 6 of 14Great value
The staff was very accommodating. As is customary in Europe the room was small, but clean and (for the most part) comfortable. The price included breakfast (the only hotel on this trip which did). A great value. I would certainly stay there again.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 8 of 14French charm in a convienient location
Hotel Claret has French charm with small but pleasant rooms facing a quiet courtyard and a lovely free breakfast all for a reasonable price. It has elevators, but no AC. The location is great with a Metro station in front and just a few blocks from the Gare de Lyon to catch the train to the south of France.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 9 of 14Friendly Staff
The staff was very friendly and after I told them in French that my French was n'est pas bon, they spoke to me in English and in French when I tried. They were extremely helpful in telling me how to use the subway, which was right outside the front door, and the bus, which was right across the street. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 10 of 14Great Hotel
We stayed at Hotel Claret for 5 nights in late February of '09. The staff were very helpful and available. If you like firm beds, you will be pleased. The metro was located outside the entrance. Bercy station, #12 & #14 lines will get you to central Paris in 5 to 10 minutes. We would recommend opting for the breakfast which includes many goodies to get you warmed up for the day around Paris. Rooms facing the courtyard are your best bet as street-side rooms may be loud. There is a nice neighborhood for groceries and other small shops up the street. Doors lock at midnight with a bell that will notify the front desk to let you in. We will definitely consider staying here when we visit Paris again.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 11 of 14Good Deal - but only if you can deal with noise
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel - very nice staff - clean - good location. The only issue was the train noise from the Gare de Lyon which is accross the street. I can sleep through anything so it was not a problem for me. But if you are a light sleeper be forewarned.

We were using this hotel as a base to see Paris. The Metro station is 5 metres from the front door so it was perfect. I had read from this site that the rooms were small, and this is correct. The reception staff were very knowledgabe and helpful. For the price good value for money.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 13 of 14good value, next to the metro
although this hotel isn't some luxury five star spa hotel, it's great if you're planning on just getting around paris and seeing the sights. it's two seconds from the metro, which was a god send - made my trip so much easier! and on the plus side, the staff are very very very friendly!

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 14 of 14Nice Hotel
very nice, staff at desk somewhat curt, restaurant overpriced and unable to accommodate vegetarian (served lettuce, tomatoe and potatoe with salad dressing as entree for $23 - only option available).
