Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 29Paper Thin Walls
My wife and I spent a week at the Camelot in October of 2009. The room was clean and well equipped, and the ocean view was wonderful. Our stay was made very unpleasant, though, by noise from adjoining rooms. Televisions played at normal listening levels and even conversations can be heard through the paper thin walls. A "Do Not Disturb" sign on our door seemed to inspire the housekeeping staff to choose our door to shout back and forth to one another, for no apparent reason. Hotel staff called us on our room phone- to try to sell us a timeshare! Our "free gift" upon arrival was also a thinly veiled attempt to interest us in a timeshare purchase. We will not return to the Camelot.

This facility was just ok. Part of my problem might be that we stayed at the Anderson and the rooms were spectacular, guess I expected the same sort of facility even though it was older. The maid service was not good. One day no towels left and a bag of garbage from another room. Called the front desk and the maintenance person came to get it. The glass doors to the balcony were in need of cleaning. The showerhead was loose and sprayed water all over the bathroom. We had a beautiful ocean view room and loved the beach access. Very nice beach. Also no dishwasher or washer/dryer. Not horrible but did not meet my expectations. I have also stayed at the

The Camelot is excellent. From the on-site parking garage to the all ocean-front rooms, there isn't a better value in Myrtle Beach!

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 29Enjoyable Experience - Good Value!
The hotel was as advertised and met all our needs and expectations. The stuffed chair and sofa were very worn and in need or replacement. It did not detract from our enjoyment, but it might bother others. The view and balcony were great, the pool facilities were very enjoyable, and we really liked the convenience of the parking garage attached to the room entrances. The only problem we had was we could not get the water to be more than adequately warm, not "hot." The kitchen was well furnished and the rooms were clean. Beach access and grounds were well maintained. Hotel location is great and access is easy. Not a high luxury hotel, but very nice, comfortable, and enjoyable.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 29Disappointed
The suite itself was nice enough with a great view, but there was a nasty dirty piece of moldy bread on the floor under the fridge that had been there who knows how long. Also, I notified the front desk that the dead bolt was broken right after check in and no one addressed it our entire 6 day stay. Lastly, the hotel itself is so tall that after about 2 P.M., it blocks the sun from the entire pool/lounge area. I don't think I'd stay there again.
Hotel Response
Thank you for writing a review. I am happy that you liked the suite and that you had a great view. I am sorry that housekeeping didn’t do a good job getting the room ready for your stay and that maintenance didn’t repair the dead bolt in a timely manner. I do hope that you will give us another chance to provide you with the customer service that we pride ourselves on.

I'm not that picky, but there are a few things needed when staying in a hotel. The first night there was no soap in the room. The following night, there were no wash clothes. I guess they didn't want us to bath or something. The indoor pools were nasty looking, they had a greenish color to them. Tried swimming in the outdoor pools, but they are unheated. Overall I was very disappointed with my stay there.
Hotel Response
Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay. I wanted to apologize to you for the problems that you encounter while you were staying at our resort. I wanted to assure you that I have sent your comments to the General Manager to look into. I hope that the next time you are in town you will give us another chance to provide you with the best service.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 29Nice Hotel for $, but not for smokers
Overall it was a good stay. The staff was polite and helpful. The room was clean. Good place to stay for the price paid. My wife and I were on the top floor and the view was great. There were two things that bothered me though. The parking garage was right up against the room doors and the beds were on that end of the room. The garage is ten stories high, so if you stay here stay above the tenth floor so you dont have to here the garage traffic. Camelot is also completely non smoking. I was told I could not even smoke on my outdoor balcany unless I wanted to be asked to leave and pay an additional $150 cleaning. If you smoke better to find somewhere else.
Hotel Response
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am glad that you found the staff polite and helpful and that the room was clean. Regrettably, most of the Oceana Resorts properties are smoke free including the Camelot by the Sea.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 29Great Location
Hotel was clean and staff was great. Plenty of shopping closeby, and a very nice mall only a mile away. We really enjoyed our stay, and will be back again. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 29Great room and view for the money
Camelot by the Sea was a great deal. It was a simple ride down the elevator and out a door to the beach. The all oceanfront view is true, straight on no wierd angles. The parking garage attached to the hotel makes you sleep a little more sound knowing your car is only a few feet away. Parking garage is small but managable to get small or big vehicles in. Desk staff and all service personal were fast and quick with problems. Only complaint would be the elevator dingind as it went through floors and the handles on the appliances in the kitchen felt sticky and gross. That was resolved by wiping them with soap and water by myself. View was excellant, could watch the sun rise as well as set from the opposite end of the room. would recommend if high-end luxury is not your speciality.

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 29Beautiful...but noisy. Convenient, but noisy
We arrived to find a gorgeous hotel! The front desk staff greeted us warmly and immediately. We were given a "myrtle beach welcome package" upon arrival. I found this rather cute and accomodating. The hotel has its own parking garage, which is the "convenient" part of my title that I am referring to. If you have been to Myrtle Beach, you know that parking is insane, so it was extremely convenient that the hotel had its own parking garage attached to the hotel. But while it's convenient, it was also the downfall of the hotel in my eyes. The constant traffic in and out of the garage at all times of the day/night, with people honking or the car honking letting the owner know the alarm was set were constantly distracting and annoying. The walls were paper thin, so you could hear the garage noise clearly. The security in the hotel was amazing. Security guards walking through constantly made me feel extremely safe. Our room was nice, the view from the balcony was gorgeous! Extremely satisfied with the hotel, its location and the staff. It has an indoor pool which in the winter was a must for myself. If I had to choose again, yes, I would definitely use this hotel again, but maybe a higher floor so less traffic in parking garage!
