Good Deal, Good Location

We were in VA Beach for an air show. The Blue Angels buzzed the hotel. It is at the very end of the boardwalk. If you are going with someone who likes to fish, they can do so at Rudee Inlet / Marina. We also visited the Virginia Aquarium -- barely a mile away. The room was an efficiency and very spacious - guessing 300 sf. Two adults and 3 teenagers did not feel cramped. We took a cot. I will stay again.

Good hotel for the price

This hotel is nothing fancy, but it's clean and in a good location. We have stayed there more than once. If you want a good deal on an oceanfront room and don't care about a lot of extras, this is a good pick. My only complaint is that we asked for a 1 hour extension on check-out time and they flatly refused, even though it was off-season and the hotel was clearly nowhere close to being full.

very nice family hotel

for the money we paid for this hotel on the ocean front we were not expecting much. we were very please with the room location and the staff my husband and i are planning to return during the off season and again next summer. this is a very nice, no thrill family ocean front hotel-we loved that we were at the end of the beach so quiet

Great room for the money

I have stayed at the Schooner Inn for the last three years usually two to three times a year. I love the Schooner Inn and so does my travel mate. This was my first time using Hotels.com and I was very pleased with the service. I will be contacting you this month for a stay the beginning of October at the Schooner. By the way, I am a Travel Counselor.

Worst place I ever stayed

The hotel was very outdated and the room had a very strong mold smell. We had to leave the door open as long as we could. The "guest bathroom" on the 4th floor was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. We checked out after the second night and was told by the hotel that Hotel.com was refunded for the last night but we have not seen a refund yet. Would not recomend Schooner Inn or Hotel.com to anyone.

Great hotel and location

My daughters and I stayed the first week of August and had a wonderful time. All of the staff was kind and helpful. Our room was very clean and kept so by staff, and this is coming from one of those people who like to disinfect a room before unpacking. I could tell it was cleaned well. The location is perfect as it is located at the very end of the boardwalk. Therefore, less crowded and quiet. We felt very safe at this end and it was very well patroled by police and plenty of lifeguards were on duty during the day. The pool was clean and nice. Parking was great and very close to entrance. Our biggest thrill was seeing the dolphins and one day they were so close one actually jumped out of a wave close to shore. It was amazing. We had so much fun we were sad to leave.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean. This was a nice little hotel for the price. We would go back and stay again.

worth the money

One of the best things about this hotel is the location. One of the last hotels at the end of the beach near Rudee Inlet, it has a great view of the surfers and volleyball players, and it is away from the noise of the boardwalk, but within walking distance. All of the rooms have an ocean view with balcony. It is NOT fancy, but you don't have to worry about tracking in sand! You can relax. It has a small refridgerator and microwave, too. The staff are really nice, especially housekeeping and maintenance.

Great room for the money

We loved our hotel. We were there for July 4th week end and this hotel is located on the end of the boardwalk so you do not have the hustle and bustle underfoot so to say. There is a shuttle bus that the city has for 2 bucks a day. Its all you need to get to the other areas. Our room was very clean, and all the employees were very helpful. The mint green paint was less desirable but who cares you're never in your room at the beach anyhow right. Mattresses were great.We had a hot tub room. They are located right in front of your personal walk out porch so you can view the beach right from your room, and hot tub. We'll be staying here again no doubt!

Older hotel

The hotel was fine because I had read reviews. I knew that the hotel was older and somewhat worn; therefore, I wasn't surprised when I checked in and went to my room. The hotel has a fabulous view and for the price is was worth putting up with an older hotel. If you stay at the Schooner Inn you must understand that there are no "no smoking" rooms. Our room didn't smell that bad but I could tell that smokers had stayed in the room previously.

would stay again

loved the hotel. walked out of the hotel and then your on the beach. close to the boat and fishing docks. i would stay here again. the room was clean the water pressure was great in the shower. staff was friendly. great price. had to walk or order in to get food but that was ok we wanted to see everything. the room has dishes,microwave, fridge,and plenty of room. we had a 4 year old and 9 year old we loved the view and the room.
