Schooner Inn

no heat

This hotel did not have any heat on in the room even though it was very rainy and cold outside. We stayed 2 nights and did not have heat until the second night. Thank goodness we found a thick blanket in the room or we probably would have been very cold.

great location and value

The Schooner Inn is a nice hotel overall. The location was great if your looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of all the people. Location at the end of the beach was great. Lovely view of the dolphins and surfers every morning from balcony. Pleasantly surprised by the size and condition of the room. Great value. Loved it and will be back again next year.

Great Value and Beautiful Views

Our stay at the Schooner Inn was great. The beach is right outside your balcony. Clean, comfortable, affordable,and convenient. Only, next time we are bringing our own pillows.

Beach and your company priceless

The room was very outdated. The coffee horrible, but the view... amazing. If you are going done for a romantic weekend this is the place. The jacuzzi tub (took forever to fill) but to look out at the ocean and relax with the one you love makes it all worth it. The hotel is the last one on the beach so you do not have the loud night life, but you can walk to it. Had trouble with air conditioning but got a new room immediately. Would stay again but would not pay peak season rates.

Needs to be torn down and rebuilt

It was an extremely old facility that was misrepresented with the pictures shown on their website. There were dead bugs in the bathroom and one of the bathtub wall panels was protruding at least 2-3 inches away from the wall. The towels were dingy and felt like a scouring pad when drying off. The floors were dirty, the bedspreads were torn and the room smelled. There were cigarette burns on the rug. We were very disappointed in the physical appearance and it was not disclosed that jets were flying overhead every ten minutes all day until midnight. Apparently this was a regular occurrence according to locals. We should get some type of a refund because we certainly didn't get our monies worth for what we paid to stay at this place and really shouldn't be called a hotel or inn.

The hotel was great. The view was awsome, beds were good, the headboards squeeked during non sleeping bedtime. But that would be my only complaint

Nice place, friendly service.

The Schooner Inn is at the end of the Boardwalk. Its the last hotel, but the folks at the desk are quick to boast that they're the FIRST hotel! Very friendly desk. Even though ashtrays were in the room it was completely odor-free and very clean. Seemed freshly painted and we were given a choice of rooms on any floor we wished. We chose the "penthouse" 6th floor. Great view of the beach and Rudee Inlet. It should be mentioned here that the last 3 blocks of the beach near the inlet are reserved (no swimmers) for "surfers only" from Mem. Day thru Labor Day. No continental breakfast but everything is near enough to walk. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anybody looking for a quieter Virginia Beach experience. Much better than alot of reviews would lead you to believe.

Needs Major renovation

unable to provide adequate heat, old televisions with only 3 channels. The only good thing was the view. During the night when there is a wind, you hear a loud constant howling outside your door preventing one from sleeping.

OK stay.

This hotel was comfortable clean and affordable, but the ammenities were not compareable to most ocean front accomodations. Good bargain, but if you are looking for a place to remember keep looking.

Beautiful oceanfront view

The hotel itself is just ok, however the location and the view couldn't be better! The Schooner Inn is at the end of the Virginia Beach boardwalk, so its a little less crowded. If you get a room with a view you can watch the surfers when you wake in the morning, or sit on your balconey if the heat gets to you in the day. If you need a little more relaxation you can sit in the hot tub while looking out at the water. That was the best part!

Great Hotel.

Great view and location. The view of the ocean was great. The bed was the most comfortable of all the hotel beds we ever slept on. Will stay again.

Schooner Inn

The place was great!! The tub in the room made a great addition!! The only issue I found was that the walls seems a little thin so it was easy to hear others next door.
