Schooner Inn

Good Value, Excellent Location

While not the Four Seasons, this reasonably-priced bargain hotel provides good value for beachfront accommodations. The staff were very friendly, helpful with breakfast, lunch and dinner recommendations, and very quick to fix a minor maintenance problem with the shower. The room was cleaned each day. Do not expect elegance, but if you're looking for a pleasant stay right on the beach, without busting your budget, this is the place to be.

Needs improvement

Needs more comfortable seating for relaxing. Sitting on hard chairs and sitting up on the bed not that relaxing.

Great room for the money

We stayed for 1 night for the convenience of having not to drive home after going to see a concert on the beach. We had an oceanfront with kitchenette which was quite nice for the age of the hotel. Right on the beach.....

Not bad for the money.

The room was not bad for the price we paid. The beds were very comfortable. There is not alot down at that end of the beach though. Also, the front desk employee name Kathy was extremely rude and unprofessional.

needs improvement

bathrooms were clean. just seemed like carpet was dirty and and ceramic tile could have been cleaner.

Wonderful overnight

we stayed one night passing through Va Beach - the staff was very friendly, the room was much larger than expected, very clean and comfortable. We even slept with the balcony door open so we could listen to the waves all night. It was off season, so pretty quiet and not too much going on because it's at the very end of the Va Beach road, but perfect for us. We would stay there again - off season. Might be a bit crowded during peak season. Decidedly a great overnight visit for a great price.

Very good value for the $$$

We stayed at The Schooner Inn for The Polar Plunge weekend 02/06/09-02/08/09. We initially picked this hotel because of the price and the oceanfront location. It was a terrific value. The staff was decent and the rooms were very clean. I'm certain we will stay there again next year.

VERY, VERY NICE!

We almost didn't book this room due the reviews that were written. However due to our budget, I am so glad we did! The colors and the decor of the room was very inviting. It was well equiped with a refrigerator, microwave, coffeepot, toaster and even a safe. We had 2 double beds and a hot tub which gives you the best seat to watch the ocean waves or the surfers and some dolphins if you watch closely. Our room was cleaned daily about 10am by a cheerful gal who knew quite alot about the area. We had to call maintenance once, when our safe had to have its batteries replaced, and our request was responded to immediately. All, I can say, any time we go to Virginia Beach, we will always plan to stay at the SCHOONER INN. We will never again pay higher bucks at those other places.

Great room for the money

I've stayed in better, but its not nearly as bad a some of the reviews. we stayed after the summer rates dropped and what a deal! the room while adequate was nothing special. the two beds were comfortable enough and clean. as was the rest of the room. the view was SPECTACULAR!!!! right on the beach! also last hotel before rudee inlet so very quite as well. i was somewhat worried after reading some of the reviews right before we left, there wasn't that many negative ones when we booked. but i was pleasantly surprised. we wanted a nice place, inexpensive, and clean. we got all we asked for! i didn't understand the negative reviews until i saw the peak season prices. if i paid that i would have been upset, but for the off season rate we got you couldn't beat it. bottom line if your looking for an inexpensive place, ON THE BEACH, that provides a clean place to sleep so you can get out and enjoy the beach and surrounding areas this is it. its very basic and nothing fancy but it gets the job done. and did i mention the view?!?!? SPECTACULAR!!!!

Good bang for the buck!

For an off season price this was a great value. The room had a great view and to hear the sound of the ocean first thing when you wake was outstanding. To sit in the hotub and look out at the ocean was also outstanding.
