Would definately stay again. Great all around.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 27Standard Room Beds
The rooms are clean and comfortable, but I think a "standard" room should include the option of a queen size bed at the "standard" room price. Is it really reasonable to only offer singles or doubles for the "standard" priced rooms? Most average adults would not find a single bed very comfortable.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 27Great room for the money
Room condition was great, the staff was courteous. The valet parking below was helpful and convienient. The Gateway in a great location being a short walk away from nearby parks, restaurants, and parks.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 27Low price, low expectations
with traffic and street noise high and uncomfortable beds the only thing that met expectations was the price tag. I would not stay at this hotel again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 27Terrible!
I saw the good reviews this hotel got and was sorely disappointed. My wife and I were given a room with two twin beds, the air conditioner took a long time to cool the room down, the noise from the cars and people outside of our window (with the sliding glass door closed) was loud and annoying, and we woke up early in the morning with a stiff and aching back from the terrible mattresses we slept on. The closet is in the bathroom, and the 19 or 20 inch TV sat on a dresser, so was so low that we could barely see the screen, even though our pillows were folded over to prop our heads up. We will not stay in this hotel again, regardless of the price. The fact that a married couple checks in and gets twin beds amazes me. We've been in rooms with double/full size beds, but never twins. On a positive note, the valet parking attendants were superb; however, there is no self-parking at this hotel, so plan on the $16.00/day parking plus tips for the valets.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 27Bed & Breakfast?
We stayed here for 3 nights starting April 8th. I made the reservation over the internet. They claimed to serve breakfast which was really toast and coffee. They included bagels but no cream cheese, the juice tasted like powder drink mix. They also had taro bread and some canned peaches. Not even pineapple! The beds and pillows were extremely hard and the location is very noisy. The best part was the ABC store in the lobby and the pay per view movies, but they were expensive at $15.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 27Hotel is satisfactory; continetal breakfast is not
The hotel is pretty much what you would expect of a older, inexpensive hotel in a coastal area; clean, tidy but not too many extras and in need of some handyman work in the bathroom. Overall the hotel meet my expectations because I did not pay much; however, the continental breakfast is comical and I would consider it an appetizer before breakfast. The free breakfast is not worth it. I do recommend the hotel; just remember that Waikiki is a noisy, crowded place.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 27Great location and friendly staff
We booked the standard room, which is on floors 3-7; however, we called ahead to request a bigger bed (some rooms have 2 or 3 twins) and as high as possible. They put us on the 16th floor with a HUGE balcony. We had views of the mountains and the ocean. The decor is nice for the price and the front desk clerk, Sam, was super helpful. You also can't beat the location - close to the strip, close to the beach. Overall, a great place to stay.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 27Nice Hotel, Bad Location and No AC
The beds are soft; the location sucks; parking is overpriced for overnight (a little too expensive); the air conditioning in our room was broken and behaved more like a fan than an AC

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 27Hotel was not up to standards that they advertised
We booked a king bed, got a receipt for a king bed, did not get a king bed and the front desk person was not in the least caring about our request. When we got to the room, our queen bed was in a very small room with no bedside table or lights that we could read in bed. The outside patio was big enough to hold 2 king size beds if one wanted to sleep outside. The next morning we awoke to such noise at 6 a.m. that when I looked out our bathroom window, the complimentary breakfast was right next to our room and as I looked out, a gentleman was eating his toast looking in at me!!!!! The same on the patio, as we sat on the patio we could see the people eating breakfast. We should have been told prior to being assigned the room. We arrived at night so we didn't know. We called the front desk after knowing this but they couldn't change us. Hotel full, I doubt it. Also, we had to pay $11.00 a day for valet parking that was not mentioned when we reserved the hotel. There was no regular parking, only valet. The book describing the hotel said it was totally remodeled a few years back and when I brought this to the front desk person when we checked out he said they must not have done our floor. Only a stand up shower, no tub, and no where to put soap in the shower except on the floor which I hated to put my feet on. Our first trip to Hawaii and to start off with this two night stay was awful to say the least. The people that recommended this on the site must have not been in the same hotel. Beware of this facility.

the service is nice and they hold your bags for you if you arrive early or have to leave later than check out, so thats nice. but there were ants in the room, the toilet smelled like urine after a day, there was not a microwave to heat up leftovers, and when it says computer access... dont let that confuse you with wireless, cus thats only available in the pent house sweets. it was nice to have the breakfast in the morning... but it wasnt that great. the abc store right near the lobby was convenient. i guess you get what you pay for

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 27Great View
I'll make this short and sweet: We had a penthouse sweet looking towards the ocean. The view was good, the bathroom was very comfy- large tub and floors marble? I loved the bath and body works shampoo- it smelled so good I bought some! The bed was enormous, and the chaise lounger was perfect for peeping out the glass walls! Small balcony area, but understandable. The room was very modern and sleek, the staff helpful and its within reasonable walking distance to nightclubs but if you want the beach you might want to use a car.
