Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 54Second stay better than the first
We stayed at the Congress Hall for the second time in 2 years. The first time we had an ocean-view room, and this time we tried the a town-view room. The town-view room was much better for us because we didn't get the late-night noise from the weddings that go on every weekend there like the ocean-view rooms. Since we prefer to sleep with the windows open instead of with the AC on, the town-view was much better. As our stay before, the room was spacious and very clean and the hotel in general is maintained very well.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 54Great Room and Location
Got this hotel for about 1/2 off and didn't know what to expect. Room was large and very clean. Bathroom was very large as well. They set you up on the beach when you walk down, so no need to bring towels, chairs, umbrellas, etc. Pool was also very nice with a bar adjacent. Very happy with the hotel and the price paid.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 54Great Stay
We had a great stay at the Congress even with cold and rainy weather. Room is spacious and looks onto the lawn, with diagonal view of the ocean. It was worth paying extra to have the view instead of looking out onto the street side. The Blue Pig is a great place to have lunch, food and service are both good. It was rainy during our stay, so we didn't make use of the beach (right across the street) or the pool. The spa was still under construction during our stay. Definitely recommend the hotel.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 54...simply great!
This would be our fourth time at Congress Hall and it keeps improving! The Blue Pig Tavern is an outstanding restaurant with great service. When we arrived this last time it seemed like they had upgraded us to a suite. We love the surrounding area stores and sights such as the American West Store, the Cape May Lighthouse and the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. When it came time to rest, we found our room to be very inviting. We highly recommend a stay at this historic landmark.

We had an amazing view of the ocean. It was awesome. We were fasinated with the history that is displayed regarding the hotel. Most of all, we enjoyed the well aged building. We will go back for sure.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 54Great location for the money in a great port town
The overall experience was very enjoyable. Some things exceeded our expectations like the complimentary valet parking. The cocktail lounge was very comfortable, the on-site restaurant was also decent. The room was well lit and comfortable and the staff was friendly. The location of the hotel right on the beach and in the midst of a quaint neighborhood added to charm and appeal. We visited the hotel in the off season so the prices were really good but some of the amenities were not accessible because they were being upgraded or newly introduced in time for the seasonal crowd. There was also some construction going on which we could have done without.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 54Stay at Congress Hall
Very nice hotel. Negatives were room was outside housekeeping, and could hear water running from nearby rooms, so somewhat noisy; very low water pressure in bathroom sink; no dvd player as advertised. Have stayed at Congress Hall on numerous occasions, and this room was not one of the better ones.

The hotel was beautiful and the room was large and had top notch services, large flat screen TV, in-room bar and snacks at reasonable prices and large private bathrooms with soft terry robes for his and her.

Loved our Easter stay! The linens, beds, and pillows were excellent. My only suggestion would be for more hooks in the large spacious bathroom to hang robes, clothing, etc.

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 54Great service, clean, full of charm, great location, great value
We went for a getaway weekend in the off season and weren't disappointed. The service was outstanding. Everyone was helpful, chatty, and eager to help. We had one glitch in which our pay per view movie didn't run due to a technical problem. However the front desk was on it in a flash and had it fixed within 20 minutes. Because of my fiddling with the controls trying to rectify the problem, I inadvertently ordered the movie again. Upon check out, they cheerly removed the second charge. My measure of a hotel is not solely based on impeccable service but on how they handle mishaps. Congress Hall came through with flying colors. Finally, the CH is an older hotel but it is magnificently maintained and the location can't be beat for Cape May. We can't wait to go back. Kudos!

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 54Very Satisfied
The hotel is in the nicest part of Cape May and has an excellent restaurant (The Blue Pig) and piano bar in the evening. There are also some neat little shops and a spa in the same building. One tiny faux pas was that the clerk almost over-charged us by $60 because she was giving us someone else's bill. Also, the room numbers on the key are completely different than the actual # on the door of the room, so you have to listen carefully when they tell you which room you're in or you'll be searching for a room that doesn't exist, or trying to gain access to someone else's room...it's kind of confusing. However, the room was in perfect condition with luxurious sheets and comforter and we had a nice view of the ocean. We're looking forward to going back!
