the employees and even the other guests were great. Matt at the front desk very helpful for dinner choices. Loved the wine party at 5pm!

Very clean, chic hotel in a great location. Service is really friendly, great restaurant downstairs. Parking is expensive.

If you are like me, that loves to go places on foot, loves Dupont Circle and Georgetown, this hotel is in a GREAT location for you! You are close enough to Georgetown to go there walking and avoid traffic and parking yet you have easy access to downtown and major touristic spots. If you enjoy going for a run, you can always go to the Embassy Row (very close to the hotel), and enjoy running in a beautiful neighborhood (and brush-up on the names of the foreign countries as you pass by their embassies! :-))

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 11 of 67Nice place to stay.
We stayed in Washington on our way to New York and had a nice experience at the Hotel Palomar. Not the least expensive, but it was close enough to the museums to be worth it. We had Chinese food in the evening and although we first ordered for delivery the wait time was 50 minutes so we decided to just pick it up since the restaurant (Meiwah - corner of New Hampshire and M St.) was only about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Food was not bad at all - definitely generous portions. The staff at front desk and reception was just ok - seemed like generally it was without character and style - just people doing their jobs. Definitely could be much better, especially for a Kimpton property. The one other gripe I have with this property is the parking. I was not looking forward to paying the $34 and tip for overnight parking so we drove around a bit and luckily found a spot just half a block away at a metered spot but since we were outside regulation times we didn't have to pay anything (we only needed to move it before 9am the next day which was fine since we were heading out early anyway). The room was very nice, though (we had the king executive). Spacious with a big comfortable bed. Wireless Internet in the room was also free which was great. Hotel decor was also very nice. Despite little issue with staff and parking, would still highly recommend it for a nice stay in Washington.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 12 of 67Service was not as expected
I had requested a wine/cheese plate upon arrival (as they advertise), that didn't happen. The manager apologized and eventually brought up a fruit tray and some beer as a substitute, but at that point I just wanted to go to sleep. The room was noisy, the adjoining room had kids and a dog and I could hear them through the connecting door. Guests with kids and/or dogs should not be booked in rooms with connecting doors unless they are part of the same party. On the other hand, the concierge was very well prepared with information about sites to visit, how to get around, etc...

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 13 of 67very friendly
i didn't expect it to be SO FRIENDLY to my very big pet. most hotels don't alow big dogs, but this hotel is set for pets first -- i think they had water in the entrance in 3 different levels, they had cookis for the dogs and the rooms were very elegant. the only complain i had was the fact that you had to use the expensive valet parking.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 14 of 67Amazing hotel, one big problem
This hotel is amazing. I loved our room, but apparently so did our neighbors... a lot. The people staying next to us were quite "loud" and it was as if they were in our room. I'm not sure if the walls are thin, but the area between the rooms through the connecting doors leaves no sounds to the imagination. If we could hear the couple next to us "enjoying" their room, then they could probably hear us when we were simply talking. It was an odd and humorous experience. But other than that, the hotel was really pretty and our room was amazingly comfortable.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 15 of 67Outstanding hotel
Our first time at the Palomar celebrating our anniversary and we're very impressed with the hotel, e.g quality and setup, ambience, room layout. Proximity to many things to do: clubs for the youngin', national zoo and Adam Morgan, .. In the morning there was even a farmer's market. Definitely will keep this as a place to come back.
