Trip Type: Family Review 1 of 59Decent budget-friendly hotel.
We recently made a last-minute trip to New Orleans to take our 11-month-old son to the Audubon Zoo and to take in a Halloween parade. We chose the Royal St. Charles for its location and price. The location is GREAT. Right next to the Quarter without being surrounded by tourists and revelers. Again, this was an impromptu trip so we checked in very late - approximately 11:30 pm. The front desk was very helpful on the phone as we were in route, assuring me that all would be fine. Upon arrival I BARELY fit our van into the tiny Valet parking area where I was eventually informed that our vehicle would have to remain on the curb until the morning as their lot was full. I didn't exactly relish the thought of our van sitting immediately outside the entrance to their nightclub, but so be it. The nightclub mentioned above can be an annoyance. It is open air to the lobby and the club music is pretty loud. Didn't bother us too much as our little one actually enjoyed the house mix. I can see how some might be annoyed, however. ROOM: The room was much larger than expected! We had an interior corner room that was oddly shaped, but had plenty of room for the travel crib. The major downside of this room was the lack of view. There was a "window" of glass "distortion" tiles (likely to hide a nasty view). There were other, minor issues with the room but no real show stoppers. The room was acceptably clean. There was a stain from a spilled drink (likely a Hurricane), but I personally know how difficult those red drink stains can be so no big deal. The lack of counter space in the bathroom was pretty inconvenient, but the lighted makeup mirror was appreciated by my wife. Overall this hotel was a good find considering our complete lack of planning and budget limitations at the time. Great location, minor wear and tear, friendly staff, and "happening" club are all hallmarks of the Royal St. Charles Hotel - one block off of Canal on St. Charles Ave. Can imagine this would be a great

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 59good room for the money
Overall the hotel is worth to stay: clean, comfort and location is good. The only thing we do not like is the room was too small and no windows. But it is New Orleans, no need to stay inside hotel room all the time.

Trip Type: Family Review 3 of 59cusomer service
The person who checked u sin was extremely rude and argumentive with us. She was a smart tale hen we tried to explain something to here she snapped at us. The rooms are extremely small. When we checked in we told them we had a handicapped person with us and they never once told us they had handicapped rooms nor did they offer to move us toone once they found out we had a wheel chair handicapped person with us. They do not have a continental breakfast like this site states they have a table set up with coffee only. There is no parking accesible to you unless you valet with them and the price a nite is outragious or you can park 5-6 blocks away and walk back. I was not very satisfied with this stay.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 59Give & take
A pleasant surprise was that hotels.com got us free valet parking. A good thing in the maze of one way streets in that neighborhood. :) An unpleasant surprise was that the "(light) continental breakfast" that is listed for this hotel's amenities means "we have coffee". The music in the (Ohm) bar/lounge next to the desk on the first floor was so loud I had trouble understanding what was being said while checking in. We were surprised/annoyed by the mandatory $7.95 resort fee (for fitness & business center that we didn't ask for or wanted, phone service that we didn't need, and wireless that we barely used).

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 59Great for the money
This hotel was well worth the price. The only complaint was the noise from the adjoining rooms. Once reported, the hotel staff corrected the problem. I would return to this hotel the next time I am in the Big Easy!

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 59Valet Parking Fee!
We were having a hard time finding the hotel and called the hotel for directions. We called 4 times and received a different (WRONG) route each time. On the 5th call, we were on hold for so long that we called a family member for directions from Google. Then, we had to put a $50 deposit on our credit card for the $30+ a day valet parking fee for 1 nights stay. Too expensive, hard to locate and horrible staff.

The rooms were very nice and the beds were soft and comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly. Great location right across from the French Quarter!

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 59Be careful with the $7.50 Daily Mandatory Fee imposed by the hotel
The very first impression I had about this hotel was "I made a big mistake". My room was a stinky box with no window. I had to ask for housekeeping, "they just forgot about cleaning my room". Breakfast from Friday to Monday..... but we never had it despite of being in the hotel from Saturday to Wednesday. The parking rate is $30 daily, the most expensive parking rate ever.... However, the worst part of my experience with this hotel was a $7.50 daily mandatory fee......... completely abusive. If you are looking for a deserving rest, do not come to this hotel. If you are looking for random sex in a hotel with limited clearness, this is the right place to be.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 59"Decent hotel for the money"
Hotel is in good location and in decent shape. It's an easy walk to the French Quarter, and the neighborhood feels safe. Considering what I paid for the room, it's a real good value. There are few MINOR problems that keep this from being a great hotel: not enough parking spaces for you to park your cars to check in; valet parking is very slow even when it's not busy; room is small which is OK with me since I don't stay in my room much; carpet is worn but clean and other furnishings in the room are clean though not luxurious. Overall, it's a decent hotel as long as you don't pay too much for a room.

The hotel is lovely in the center of the Big Easy. I got free valet parking with my package, but after the reservation was made I had to argue to position with a girl in the Philippine Islands. The staff is great. The room was clean with all the amenities. Walking distance to everything (even with a buzz on). I will return to this hotel by choice. Go for it!
