Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 117The Royal St Charles Hotel - FQ-NOLA Near Epicenter.
The Royal St Charles Hotel was a pleasue! On St. Charles, a trolley stop in front, in nice part of the CBD, one block from Canal St. I've stayed in many hotels in the FQ and CBD since Katrina, the Royal St Charles Hotel was an Oasis offering me a clean, comfortable, modern-furnished updated room. King bed, Sofa, Desk, and a view. A great price. A great location. A great property. Very close to the Bourbon street mix, and far enough away to escape the chaos. Kudos RSC!

Trip Type: Business Review 2 of 117Good loation but so-so accomodations
Great location if you want to be walking distance from the French Quarter. The rooms were tiny and don't have a fridge. They told me I had queen beds but they're definitely doubles. There's no room for a roll-away bed. Room service never replaced our coffee, shampoo, etc. Service at the front desk was slow and hard to get a hold of even when standing right at the desk (I never tried over the phone). So overall I wasn't impressed but for me, the trip was about seeing New Orleans and so for that purpose the hotel was an acceptable fit.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 117Great Room for Money and Location
The hotel is 1 block from the French Quarter, but not "in" the French Quarter (easy access without being immersed). The cable street cars run right by the hotel entrance. The Convention Center and RiverWalk is all within walking distance. There is a small fee paid separate from the room cost (~$7.50/night), which covers all local and long distance telephone calls, full access to all features of the business center, full access to the fitness center, and free continental breakfast every day. The valet parking (full in/out privileges) is posted as $26/day, but was actually covered in the cost of the room. The room was small and didn't have a window. But the bathroom was completely new and renovated. The staff was exceptionally helpful in everything...including standing out in the street and blocking traffic for us when the valet brought us our car. Because of the location, almost all dining options you might hope for are within walking distance. Other things you might want or need are available in the stores and pharmacies nearby (usually within 1 - 2 blocks from the hotel). The entrance to the hotel is very cramped to try to find a parking place to check-in...and valet parking is a must.

Trip Type: Business Review 5 of 117Great room for the money
Somewhat disappointed with the overall condition of the room, but for a hotel one block from Canal St and about half the price of comparable hotels, I can't say that i was unhappy with my stay.

Convenient. Friendly and helpful staff. Good to have business center. Only negative were the poor quality pillows. Very clean throughout. Some trolly noise from below on the St Charles side. Would go there again and will recommend.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 117Better Than I Expected
Overall, the Royal St. Charles exceeded my expectations in terms of room size and comfort, and fell a little short in terms of pricing. The cost per night was quite nice, but there's an extra fee that's mandatory for all tenants which was charged daily, which I thought somewhat unfair for people running on a tight monetary budget. The breakfast of muffins and sweets that's promised every morning unfortunately only appears on the weekends - but there's coffee in the lobby every morning and in the rooms. There was also a problem with our door not locking (which was not resolved when presented to the staff). Other than that, the staff was friendly, the rooms clean and the stay, enjoyable.

Comfortable, located in a great spot in downtown New Orleans right in the French Quarter close enough to walk to all the hot spots

For the cost it was good, great location, but Parking and Internet were an expensive add on.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 117Great Hotel, Bring Earplugs
The room was small but well appointed and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Very close to the French Quarter. I would just recommend bringing a pair of earplugs because the noise from the city streets (cars, trucks, people) is very loud - much too loud for a country boy like myself.

Trip Type: Business Review 15 of 117Average Hotel for Price
Location quieter than French Quarter. However, street trolley runs next to hotel, but stops running early enough in evening to be able to sleep. Bathroom in room with 1 queen size bed very small. Small counter space for makeup, toothpaste, brush, etc. Had to close bathroom door to sit on toilet. Could tell that when room was made up for second night stay, room had not been vacuumed. Price was reasonable. So if you are not overly fussy, it is a good average hotel.
