Decent room for sale price

Hotel Phillips provided a decent room for the price, although the room was very dusty and it seemed the bathroom was cleaned hurriedly. I am not sure I would go back a second time there.

Good Hotel

Great location. Great bar downstairs with live music. Sub par bed. And the rest of the hotel has that old feel to it... so, not the cleanest feeling.

Great location

Nice room. On the small side though. Needs a full length mirror.

Friendly, Affordable Luxury

My wife and I were looking for a relaxing weekend away for the weekend. We saw this hotel for a very reasonable price, and we thought we would give it a shot. When we first arrived, we were greeted by a very peppy valet (when they go to get the car, they run, not walk.) who told us the rates for parking per night (a little steep, maybe, but not outrageous). We were then greeted by another friendly group at the front desk, and check-in was a breeze. Looking around, the hotel is beautifully done in warm browns with intricate woodwork. We decided to spend the extra to get the king-sized bed and complementary continental breakfast. I'm glad we did. The room we got was a very clean room on the 16th floor, divided into a living and sleeping area. The decor was contemporary, but not off putting. The bed was incredible; big, soft and comfortable. I couldn't have been happier. I expected some bagels, juice and maybe some waffles for breakfast, but what we got was a fine breakfast buffet including bacon, sausages, fresh pastries and an omelette station. All were incredibly delicious. Again, service was nothing short of exemplary. Two blocks away is the new Power and Light District, which is a block full of nice bars and restaurants with an enclosed outdoor area, which is quite fun. The only minor quibbles I would have were the handle on the toilet was broken, it still worked fine, but was separated from the body of the toilet, and the repaving of the street which made check-out on Sunday a little more of an adventure. The latter is not the hotel's fault, and likely done by the time you read this, and both criticisms are incredibly minor. Overall, I we were thrilled with our stay, and would go again in a heartbeat.

Great location, great service, nice room, good food

We stayed at Hotel Phillips because we were attending a performance at the Lyric Opera and wanted a place within walking distance at a good price. The location of the Hotel turned out to be ideal for our needs. We ate dinner at one of the restraunts - 12th and Balitmore - and we both had very good meals. The Hotel service was great, valet parking was quick and efficient, and check-in was painless - no suprises. Only 2 negatives I experienced - the Hotel is old (I know that's part of it's charm, but...), we had to visit about 10 floors before we found a working soda machine. They did offer high speed internet, a refrigerator, and bottled water, but all of these cost extra.
