Good location but that's about it. Service was okay, but something we should not have had to ask for... like toilet paper in our room!

The setting is great, the lobby attractive, the room a good size with a nice layout...BUT the upholstery was dirty on the sofa and ottoman, the brass end table covered with rings, the silk throw pillow torn, the shower curtain stained, the liner fraying, the bathroom wallpaper coming away at the seams, the room carpet worn and dirty-looking. We asked for another room. The new room was a bit better, no fraying shower curtain liner, no ripped silk throw pillow cover. The sofa looked cleaner, there was no ottoman. The end table still had multiple rings that aren't the "distressed" look but just a sign that someone with a good eye needs to go through the rooms regularly and keep them fresh-looking. Not impressed.

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 67Okay for the money
This is an old hotel that lacks some of the comforts of modern motels. I got a very good price on Hotels.com. For the money it was a good deal. If you are looking for something really nice, go elsewhere. I enjoyed the novelty of stepping into the past. Be warned though: it was not quiet. The A/C unit was loud and the doors of other rooms were quite loud. The hallways are dark and slightly creepy (which I thought was cool!). The rooms are small. The bathroom was up to date but very small. The tub wasn't updated for some reason and looked worn. I thought the service was good and the parking was reasonably priced. This is not a 4 star hotel. If you're looking for an inexpensive 3 start, this would be a good choice.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 67Great deal on decent hotel
Hotel is a bit on the old side, which you can tell if you look closely at the bathroom tub, carpet and walls. Avoid getting a room on the 4th floor, close to the weight room. Mine was right across from it and people working out would drop their weights and the noise was unbelieveably loud; or they'd turn up the tv while walking/running on the treadmill and I could hear the tv noise from my room and actually walked over there from my room to turn it off since the last user forgot to do it. Other than that, good value for the room I had and the staff was very nice.

Trip Type: Business Review 15 of 67Wonderful History..Felt like I was back in time.
The room was good sized and the desk & sitting area was ample. There was a large closet with a cozy robe. The bathroom was nice and they sink was unique. The shower was an older in size but worked fine. It would have been nice to have a light in the shower as it was a bit dark. The staff was very nice & professional and the housekeeping staff was as well. I ate in the bar on my last night and they make the BEST MOJITO'S!!! I was there for the Silpada Conferene and it was within walking distance of the Center and as well as the Power & Light District. I took in a KC Royals game and took a taxi to the stadium, the driver waited for me and took me back to the hotel. I found the service in the KC area to be excellent. I am looking forward to going back next year!!
