Loved the Ace Palm Springs!!

The styel of the place was really great, young, hip, relaxing. We had a garden room, brought our dog Blanca and had THE BEST TIME. The crowd is very mixed which is always nice. Overall, EXCELLENT weekend! We will definitely be back to the Ace sometime soon.

READ before booking! Important!!!

CONS: -Huge, visible stain on our bedspread when we arrived. -No carpeting on floors, just cement, which takes away from overall comfort. -No coffee maker in room. -We had one of the bigger and better rooms in hotel (king w/patio) yet there was NO TUB in our bathroom. Just shower. -Small shower/toilet area. -Room service was the worst I ever experienced (stay in hotels A LOT). Ordered at 9:30p on Sunday night, hardly a busy hour. Our food arrived 1 hr 15 min later. Got one main dish wrong. Ordered choc brownie a la mode and got some type of coconut cake a la mode. Dessert was ice cream soup because it had melted by the time it got to us. Forgot our diet coke and said they'll come right back. Forgot our pineapple juice and made a third trip back. -VERY alternative-lifestyle friendly so if you are not comfortable with that, you should not stay here. We saw many gay male and female couples making out in the pool. Also lots of heavily tattooed punk and gangsta rap type folks. -Room two doors down from us had about ten guys staying there, partying hard and loud. -There was an incident during our stay & a few cop cars and canine units came to remove a drunk man from pool area. -First drink order took about half hour to arrive--waitress took our order, came back in 15 min to ask us to verify our order (she forgot whose belonged to whom), which we did. Then 30 min later we saw her across the pool with our order, asking each person if it was THEIR order. We had to flag her down. Second drink order took 20 min to arrive. Check took 15 min to arrive. Really makes you wonder. -Not sure what the info stated for TV was, but it was the smallest LCD we've ever seen in a hotel (approx 28 in). -The decor & amenities, which strived to come off as "simple, retro chic", really just came off as "cheap". "Excellent Desert Oasis"

The Ace hotel and Swim Club is a great example of a re-imagined hotel, formerly a motel, now a sprawling desert hipster resort. The vive is surprisingly friendly, the space is clean, fresh, and very in keeping with the desert vibe. The rooms are on the small side, but wonderfully laid out with a beautiful cool luxe decor, favoring simple textures like canvas and stone, with an overall feel of "camping desert oasis" meets "design within reach." The clientele is varied from tattooed hipster to gay couples to young families, and everyone seems to be there to get along and have a good time. I wouldn't recommend this resort for people who are looking for a typical green sprawling resort, nor for someone who is looking for total quiet seclusion, the vibe leans towards social. The little touches like the record players in the rooms and free bike lending add to the relaxed fun feel, and restaurant is very good and relaxed with delicious food and nice servers. he pools are salt water and are pristine and truly fun to swim in, the fact that they are open 24 hours makes perfect sense in the hot desert, where it's lovely taking a midnight dip. I would steer towards requesting a quieter room if your intent is not to be part of a pool party! Overall, I was extremely pleased with my stay at the The Ace hotel and Swim Club

If you have nowhere else to go, this is a good option. For the price, I've stayed at better 4 star hotels for the price.

WONDERFUL STAFF, FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE

We checekd in on a Sunday after fleeing another hotel that was just awful. ACE was exactly what we were looking for and the staff was simply amazing! Even though they couldn't accomodate the early check in, they encouraged us to hit the pool and they'd let us know as soon as they had a room available. The bar staff at the pool was teriffic! They asked my boyfriend's name ONCE and called him by name and remembered his drink everytime he or I went back. The rooms are adorable, very comfortable and designed with both humor and minimal elegance. Bar and food were well priced & delicious. They even played a cd we requested at the bar. We can't wait to go back!

A hip & sustainable rehab makes this place shine

Hats off to the people who took an aging motel and a diner and turned them into the coolest desert hotel and pool resort in California. We stayed in a ground floor room with it's own patio and private fireplace. Every ammenity is provided, but in a unique, hip way. The diner (now the in-house restaurant) has kept the trendy design, but has revamped the menu to be based on locally grown sustainable ingredients for more sophisticated tastes. There are two pools (one larger social pool) and a quiet smaller pool to relax. The spa offers massage services, and there are plenty of services for dog owners that bring their pets to the hotel. Every room comes with a turn-table (a record player for you young-ins) and fully stocked bar. Even the "do not disturb" signs are interesting. Instead of a plastic sign, it is a tile on a rope that reads "not now." Staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations for restaurants, calling taxis, etc. Diner's coffee and espresso drinks were delicious. Poolside drink and food service includes "booze snow cones" and fresh-made ceviche.

Hotel and premises are amazing. Service needs improvement

Great interior room. Well designed, big, and clean on the inside, but patio with fireplace was filthy. There was a banquet table left in patio area. Called room service twice to clean patio furniture and remove table but it was never taken care of.

Great Hotel!

I almost do not want to give this hotel a good review because I'm scared if too many people get hip to it, it will be hard to get a reservation going forward. As others have said the hotel is only recently opened and so they are definitely still figuring things out but I have to say that we had a great weekend there! The rooms are certainly not typical of say a Parker hotel or even a Holiday Inn- but that is what makes it fun. The bed was great and in fact I am driving my husband crazy about wanting to get a similar pillow headboard. The pool was great- they have an old ice cream truck set up with cocktails and drinks (adult sno-cones!!) and you can order any of the delicious food to be delivered to you at your lounge chair (in neat aluminum bowls). The hotel is almost set up like a campus and in each area there are fireplaces set up. We enjoyed sitting by the fireplace in our building each night with a cocktail saying hello to people walking by and getting to pet the dogs on their way to the mini dog park. There are a lot of dogs at this hotel so if you dont like dogs then it is not for you- if you like/have dogs- its great. The restaurant was great- the hostess sings opera songs every so often which was fun. We ate there for dinner and breakfast and enjoyed both meals- and espescially enjoyed the fun details like coffee from a french press and all of the condiments in little 'Ball' jars. All in all, I have to say we had a great time at the Ace and I would definitely stay there again!!

They are clearly still getting the bugs out: the intra-hotel phone service (i.e. roomservice, front desk etc.) didn't work at all, so as far as i could tell room service is not available yet. Spa was nice but they automatically added 20% to massages; no incentive to therapists to do their best. King's road bar was the best part of hotel... service, yummy food and drink, reasonable prices. The A/c system is an apparently super-efficient type that turns off when you open door... I'm all for green tech. but they might really want to rethink this one especially come July when it's 115 degrees! The system never really cooled our room down to a comfortable level, and of course if you left a door or window open it was freezing. Overall it was a good stay as the look was cool, minimalist, and the staff was super cheerful and accomodating.
