Waikiki Gateway Hotel

Nice location

Just needed a room to stay overnight while visiting Oahu. The room was okay but the bathroom could have been cleaner. The hotel is in a nice area with a great shopping area and eateries surrounding it. Local transportation also seems to be readily available.

Great room and hotel for the money

Excellent location, the staff is friendly and helpful. All bused stop in front of the hotel so literally did not need a car. Car rental place is walking from hotel. Breakfast is very basic, no complaints but they should add an egg or a fruit or both to the menu insteak of just a bagel.

Parking was a problem

The hotel was fine. The rooms were nothing special. The only problem was the hotel wanted an outrageous price for parking and there was absolutely no street parking available. We ended up getting towed and had to pay a fortune to get our car out. Next time we will pay the outrageous price to park in their garage. The towing fees were not worth it!

The rooms were ok. We got a room with a deck and the deck was bigger than the room. There were only 2 chairs on the deck so we never really used it. The beds were comfortable and the black out drapes were great. There isn't much nightlife in the immediate area but we did most of our activities outside of Waikiki so we were able to access the hotel really easy. The parking though was a bit much at $15.00 a night. The hotel price was great and maybe parking could be somehow included in the future.

Recommend!

This hotel is fantastic for its price range. Know that when you book a stay here, you are not going to receive luxury treatment. But the rooms are more than adequate if you are using it as what it is, a place to sleep and take a shower. Our balcony faced city-side and it was really amazing. Breakfast is literally toast, pineapple, and yogurt, but its free and there are a lot of cheap breakfast joints around if this does not satisfy. Location is amazing if you want quick access to both the beach, shopping, restaurants, and the convention center.

Great Room for the Money

For the money the room was more than we expected. The room was large and clean. Only had two issues. 1. They advertise a free breakfast. It is actually a very light continental breakfast. 2. 16 story hotel. Have three elevators with only two working. Long wait in the mornings.

Definately worth the money

The hotel staff was courteous and efficient. Always ready to help with directions, cabs, etc. Bathroom was on the so-so side, but room was clean and quiet! Walking distance to the beach and shops without the "right on the beach" price. I'd definately stay here again.

Couldn't have asked for more

I chose this hotel because it had the best reviews in its price range. I was not let down. It was very clean and conveniently located near Waikiki Beach and a very nice shopping stip. It also has a small convenience store right outside the lobby which came in handy. Diamond Head is a short bus ride or drive away. The continental breakfast consisted of glucose & more glucose (bagels, toast, pineapple, flavored yogurt) but it was great for our budget. Invest in some cream cheese at the store downstairs. Overall, this hotel was perfect for our needs.

outstading hotel for affordable price

Great custumer service. every is every helpful. nice easy public transportion access. confortable bed. most of all it's inexpensive and everyone can afford this hotel. I highly recommened this hotel for everyone. also free continenatal breakfast and serve by nice lady.

Great room for the money.

The breakfast was all you really need for breakfast. It was very clean, the staff was very very nice, helpful and professional, great sence of humor. We use the bus all the time, which was just outside the hotel door. Could have used a queen size bed, the double was fine this time. We will be back to the Gateway.
