Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 132Old hotel is OK but not outstanding!
Defintely could stand to have the lobby furniture cleaned or replaced. Would say the same for the worn and stained carpetting. The continental breakfast was skimpy....toast or bagels, coffee or juice and pineapple. Breakfast room is very small...20 folks if lucky!! Parking is pretty spendy too... $15.70 plus tax/day, which was mentioned nowhere that we found in the hotel description! By the time we checked out, 2 of the three elevators we not operating....we were on the 14th floor!! Stairs may be an issue for families or folks with health issues. Hotel is fine for travellers that just need a place to sleep... Location is fine for walking just about anywhere in Waikiki..

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 2 of 132Good bang for your buck.
The hotel is a little aged but well kept. Location was great for the money. It was a few short city blocks to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I was surprised with all the shopping opportunities practically outside your door. Very good value for your money.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 3 of 132Good for the money
This hotel was a good deal for the money. I didn't stay right on the beach which has much nicer hotels but also much more expensive. From the hotel I had to walk through a park and then I was at the beach. The hotel had an OK continental breakfast, which was nice since the more expensive hotels didn't have complimentary breakfast. The hotel becomes more narrow the higher the building goes giving it an almost pyramid like shaped, which probably explains the odd room layout I had (hallway, hallway with bathroom, main area). I would stay here again but If I wanted to have a 5 star hotel I would stay somewhere else.

I am a Hawaii resident and come into Waikiki frequently and stay overnight. I have stayed in a number of Waikiki hotels but Waikiki Gateway is my favorite. The staff shines.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 6 of 132This is an overall Outstanding place to stay In Waikiki
I am a local on Oahu and come into "town" quite often to stay overnight. A kind of Paradise North to paradise South sort of thing. I stayed at Waikiki Gateway for the first time almost a year ago and it's been my favorite hotel since. The staff is tremendous. They will generally bend over backwards for you ... and occasionally ... give you really neat upgrades if you book online. Lucky you. As the matter of fact, I'd book right away before someone starts changing the carpet out or something and the rates double or triple! It's one of the better deals in Hawaii right now!! Nice Roomy hotel as is ... with access to just about everything in Honolulu and Waikiki. Buses are great here ... big limos.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 132Good shape, clean, quiet
Rooms are clean and spacious enough to call 3 star -- most 2-3 stars in Waikiki have small rooms and beds. Minifridge is nice, could use a microwave and iron in the room. "Continental breakfast" isn't quite -- they'll toast a couple slices of bread or mini-bagels to go with a fro-gurt, juice, and (thin) coffee, but no milk or cereal (only sweetener and powdered "creamer" for the coffee). Parking was $15.70/day, but from the looks of the sign, that rate goes up and down with the season (and perhaps the economy). No workout room and slow internet. Centrally located, across the street from meeting place for Wed 1700 and Sat 0900 sponsored run club, about 3 blocks through the park to the beach. Overall good if you're not looking for 5-star facilities.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 13 of 132Cheap hotel in a Great location
Location is great, with that said the rest left a great deal to be desired. The room was nasty, dirty and smelled. The cleaning staff kept turning off the noisy A/C so the room would be 85 or hotter when I returned. There was always long hair throughout the bathroom and I have very short hair. The contenintal breakfast consists of watered down coffee, powder mix drink, canned peaches and toast. You get coffee in your room (for the coffee maker) only the first day, then they refuse to give you coffee the rest of your stay. Parking will cost you 15+ bucks a day plus tips.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 15 of 132Surprising Bargain
After researching several hotels in the Waikiki area i became very confused. I am happy I selected this hotel. The location, staff, price, and service met my needs.I wasn't overjoyed with the continental breakfast, but the lady serving it was wonderful.I wasn't in the room that often but when I was I was pleased with my selection on my first Hawaii trip.
