Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 16Happy Little Hide Away
The Inn at Crystal Cove is spitting distance from Logan Airport in the small town of Winthrop . . . a nice alternative to the pricey chaos of Boston and airport hotels. Within walking distance of small, homey restaurants and a really nice staff. The rooms weren't just clean but pretty and comfortable with a pretty view of the Boston Skyline . . . also, there's a great cab company, Viking Cab, just down the street who provide a great, flat rate service.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 3 of 16European Experience in America
In Ireland we enjoyed the bed and breakfast experience far more than corporate hotels we stayed in. The Inn at Crystal Cove is about 10 minutes out of the way because you have to take back streets to get there, but the view is utterly fantastic and it feels like a European Bed and Breakfast place (of course, it has a kitchen instead of providing breakfast) but it is still an amazing experience. The almost complete lack of corporate logos everywhere in Winthrop was also extremely refreshing.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 4 of 16Great Room for the money
I was very pleased with the room and facilities and had no problems with the service, plumbing, cleanliness, or comfort of the inn. The bus system to the T station is a little hard to figure out, so the inn is probably more suited to guests with cars. Still, I was able to get in and out of Boston for the three days surrounding the Boston Marathon without too much difficulty.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 5 of 16Poor Room Location
The hotel is undergoing construction, and on a night where there were other rooms that were obviously vacant, me, my wife and child were placed in a room directly next to the area being renovated. The room we were given also looked as though it was undergoing renovations, as there were walls where sheetrock had clearly been hung recently, and sliding doors that were not on track and didn't have hardware, etc. The beds were awful in that the mattresses were extemely worn and creaked loudly at any movement. At check out time there was no attendant and no key drop, so I had to leave the keys on the doorhandle to the office. I will NEVER stay there again, far too much money for such shabby accomodations.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 7 of 16Waterfront hotel with easy access to Boston
Indepedent hotel in Winthrop with a nice view of the Boston skyline across the harbor. Our room in a recently renovated building had a kithenette and was clean and comfortable, if small. The T (subway) station is minutes away; the ride into the city at non-peak times is short. Reasonable rate and good value for the Boston area.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 8 of 16Lower your expectations
This hotel looks like it has been around a long time. The area is charming, but the hotel itself, while clean and updated, lacks elevators or even air conditioning. The desk is not 24 hours. We chose it because it is close to Logan Airport and we had crack-of-dawn flights. The arrangement is, well, unusual in that there is a communal kitchen area. It looked like some guests were staying more as boarders than hotel overnight guests. Maybe the surprise of unexpected configuration was the main problem. I have stayed in worse! It might be miserable on a hot Summer day.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 10 of 16Great refuge from the Boston Marathon madness
We wanted a place with a reasonable rate to escape the scalpers downtown Boston. Our who daughter ran in the marathon needed time off the night before. So we needed a place for ourselves, to ourselves and we found it at the Inn at Crystal Cove. This place is more like a bed and breakfast in that there are kitchen facilities on the second floor while we stayed on the third. The view was beautiful. The town is so quiet and restful. The food in the nearby restaurants excellent. Try Alia's on Shirley Street for a Sunday night 3 course Italian meal. The price is worth it. All we needed was the Primi first course and we took a bag home for the refrigerator. People are friendly, pleasant, take the time to talk to you. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 11 of 16Less than expected
The picture of the Inn was what sold me on making the reservation. When I arrived I stayed in a building off of the main building which was a little dissapointing. The room contained two queen beds, bath, tv, and was nice but connected to a common room with a kitchen, lounge and tv area for the other two rooms. When I got up in the morning to shower before heading to the airport I discovered that there was no hot water. Cold shower in the morning not good. No internet service. I thought the neighborhood it was located in was great and may have been fun to explore if one had time. It was also hard to find. If you have time and an adventureous spirit it could be fun to stay here.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 12 of 16I got my money's worth and more than I expected
The reviews of previous travelers mostly gave a fair picture. I wanted a hotel near Logan Airport and this one was half the price of the others. On the bad side, the bed was not great, the TV was not connected to any signal (we didn't ask for it to be fixed, because we were only there overnight), and the air conditioner was noisy but that was OK because it drowned out the airplanes going overhead (we wanted to be near Logan, remember). On the plus side, there was a decent kitchen available for our use, and when we asked the clerk for recommendations for where to eat, he gave us a thorough listing of what was near enough to walk for both dinner and breakfast. All the places he named seemed like good choices, and the one we went to had excellent food and a great view across the harbor to downtown Boston (and Logan, of course). The neighborhood seemed like a diverse working-class place, but not unsafe. I would stay there again.
