Trip Type: Special Event Review 1 of 74Depends on what you're looking for
This hotel is a great deal for the price. You get what in essence is an apartment with a full kitchen area. The gym is well-rounded with machines and free weights. The negatives were as follows: 1) Valet parking was mandatory for non-residents (they have renters living there). I like being able to come and go without waiting for my car and constantly having to tip people. 2) Location: The hotel is in the business district, so there is very little night life nearby (i.e., in walking distance). 3) business center: It is small and you do not have a printer, although the staff will print your boarding pass, etc.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 2 of 74Pleasantly surprised...
We got such an amazing rate that I was a little worried about what we were getting into. We were going on a cruise and only needed to stay one night before and after the cruise. When we got there, we were shocked! It is actually a building of condos, which I think, are privately owned. The building and lobby is very nice. The staff was VERY helpful. When we got into our room, we were so surprised that instead of the rinky-dink room we were expecting, we got a condo!! Full kitchen, living & dining room, large bathroom, bedroom and even a washer and dryer. The first night we decided to do laundry, but the dryer wouldn't actually dry our clothes. We had to take a garbage bag of damp clothes onto the ship. The other night we stayed in a different unit, and it worked just fine. My only complaint about our experience was the cleanliness. Most things were clean. The bedroom closets were REALLY dusty (both units) and there were lots of hairs in the dryers. That was gross. Having to clean people's hairs. The dryer also left rust stains on two of my white items. OVERALL, for the money and the amount of space you get, we were very impressed with the Fortune House.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 3 of 74Great room for the money
I book this hotel because it is very convenience for my to where I need to go, only I didn't know I need to bring my own coffee and filter.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 6 of 74Pictures are deceiving
stained carpet, outdated linen, tiles and appliances, tub floor was dirty, room was not ready upon arrival had to wait another 15 mins to get another room (needed approval from manager to give another room). Located in financial district (great for business trips, but not the quality). I was told I owed money for the valet parking when we didn't even have a car (settled, incorrectly charged to wrong room). Only pro to this hotel was the beautiful view from our room (obviously the other side is not a view at all, i think it was a view of a garage?) Definitely need a car, we did not rent one, though it is a 2 minute walk to the local metro (which was also ghetto). The hotel is also located a few blocks from the ghettos (the taxi took us thru the ghettos to get to the hotel).

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 7 of 74Good Value
The hotel is a good value if you are staying longer than one night. We stayed only one night before we sailed on a cruise. Because it is a condo/hotel- bedroon, living room, bath, and kitchen, it is better suited for a longer stay. We were a bit disappointed in the small cafe, but there were other good restaurants close by.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 8 of 74great varience in room quality
We stayed here for 2 nights before leaving for a cruise. The location was great, close to the port and within walking distance to a gracoery store and public transportation. The units are spacious and comfortable. However, 3 other families in our party stayed here also. The other families rooms were much nicer and cleaner than ours. Our unit was the only one of the 4 that had carpeting (the others' had tile). The carpeting was so dirty that our feet turned black from walking on it. The bathrooms had hair in the tub. We were supposed to have 2 twin beds in teh second bedroom, but had a double instead.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 9 of 74Need Improvements
The Hotel itself was beautiful. The lobby also has a nice touch. The Front Desk associate wasn't friendly nor welcoming to the hotel. They appeared under staffed for valet parking. The Hotel also charges you to have your car parked in their garage per night, you would think since your staying their it would be included. Was close to the area I attended for my trip. The room was under expectation considering i paid for the bay view and wasn't much of a bay view. Overall I wasn't too please with my stay and would not recommended. I know I wont be stay there next year for the same trip.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 10 of 74Like staying at your Great Aunt Myrna's winter condo
Our room was entirely adequate. I think of it as being able to stay in your Great Aunt's Florida winter condo, instead of having to pay top dollar for at a nearby hotel. Since this is a condo set-up, and not a typical hotel, we were not surprised to find that the square footage was greater than usual, but the creature comforts were a bit less. The fixtures were old, there was only one TV for the 2 rooms and the furniture didn't match. But, the price was also nice. So, on balance, not bad at all.

Shower tiles around the tub/shower were dirty needing a good scrubbing with clorox,it had mildew between the tiles. Trash can in kitchen had a liner but again the container itself needed to be cleaned (black finger marks on lid of trash can.) hadn't been "really cleaned for several stay" , in the bathroom the hairdryer on wall didn't work ??? went to Sony Ericsson with wet hair !!!however we would stay at the Fortune House again and recommend it to our friends. Breakfast was OK, not great but needed flowers, plants on the granite counter /buffet, it was very drab,..... need some cheering up !!!!few potted small palms, on counter in corners......need decorator's touch ......

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 12 of 74Potentially a great find...but risky!
I have stayed at Fortune House before, and would have rated it 4star or more. This time however, we literally had a broken bed! Totally unacceptable for the price. Some units need updating, but that's not enough to keep me away. Service is hit & miss.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 14 of 74A very nice room.
The Fortune House is a nice hotel. The service is okay. When I checked in the vale told me that there was not any self-parking on the premises, which is a lie. The hot tub was out of order, when I went to the front desk to inquire about it all I was told is that "Yeah that hasn't worked for a few days, I think somebody put in a call about it." Also, there was no coffee maker in the room. Overall it, is a nice room with some great views.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 15 of 74Excellent Value
If we ever have occasion to stay in Miami again, we will try to book at the Fortune House, first! The room was very spacious, with a laundry closet and a kitchen. Also, both the bedroom and the living room had flat panel, wall mount TVs. The staff was top notch!
