Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 42Nice week at the hotel
Much nicer then I expected from reading the reviews here. Rooms were updated and neat. Hotel staff was friendly. Lovely beach and great Thursday 'clam bake' special that also included crabs, mussels, shrimp and ribs! My only gripe is that the extremely heavy room doors are on an automatic closing mechanism that SLAMS them shut very quickly. You have to hold the door the *entire* way closed for them to not to loudly bang. Most people don't bother and generally you awake in the AM to a series of slams. They need to slow the mechanisms down.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 42Outstanding room for the money
We searched and came up with hotel and read the reviews and figured "how bad can it be". The price through hotels.com was considerably less than booking through the hotel itself, we saved over $100 a night. The room was clean and comfortable with two large queen beds complete with pillow tops, and a small refrigarator in the room. We had a small balcony with a side view of the ocean but mostly the street. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Even though check was not until 3 we arrived at 11:30 a.m. and our room was ready, but even if it wasn't you were allowed to use their facilities as well as beach badges. The same held true for check out day, we kept the badges for the day and stayed until about 5 p.m. The dining room was good for breakfast, we ventured out for dinner. The neighborhood is just beautiful and quiet. The location of the hotel could not have been better, and the beach was just beautiful. We stayed in the west wing not the east wing and honestly, it was just fine. Peaked in the rooms on the east wing and couldn't really tell a difference except for the ones with an Ocean View and that was only really true for the 3rd floor because of the dunes. I would absoltely go back again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 42Great spot on the beach
This hotel offers a great location, ample parking, lovely lobby, and friendly desk staff. Everything is readily available on or near the property, including a well stocked hotel store, just off the lobby. Our West Wing room/bath, was clean and well equipped, including a small refrigerator (not mentioned in previous descriptions). Two concerns: upon our arrival we found the door to our room had been left ajar instead of locked, stairwells need cleaning.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 42Great location and very comnfortable.
We will definately return to the Golden Inn for future Stone Harbor visits. The decor was beautiful and clean. The beds were very comfortable, which is important to us. We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the pool and tiki bar area. Just steps to the beach. The only suggestion for improvement might be to add a hot tub in the pool area.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 42What a beautiful Location
What a great place to stay!!! Though we live locally we have never really stayed in Avalon. The only complaint I had was the air conditioning never was quite cold enough. We did have fun though. The staff was very helpful and check in was a breeze. I would reccomend this hotel in a heartbeat!

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 42A peaceful, beautiful room for a great rate
We stayed off-season, and were pleasantly surprised at the pleasant, peaceful atmosphere throughout the hotel. The room was in excellent condition and very comfortalble. I would highly recommend this beach hotel any time of year.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 42Restful Fall Weekend
We had a lovely, restful fall visit to experience Christmas in Stone Harbor, which was a flurry of fun activities. The fireplace in the lobby is an attractive and cozy feature that we enjoyed. The Frank Sinatra singer and Big Band music was an added treat in the evening for dancing and entertainment.

Avalon and Stone Harbor are absolutly beautiful shore towns and the hotels lacation right on the beach is great. The pool is quit nice and well maitained and landscaped. The lobby ara is also nice and well maintained as well as the front of the building. The staff leavela lot to be desired not frindly and the never appear happy. I have stayed at this property 5 or 6 times and found the same. The check in of 3pm is never earlier and sometimes later and checkout is at 11am with the liklyhood of a late check out close to impossible.Furniture in rooms leaave a lot to be desired but the bed is not bad. This and a couple of other hotels on the inland are the only show in town so the notivation to provide excellent services is missing.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 42Decent Hotel, Great Location
The room was a little on the dirty side and the staff were not very helpful, but the hotel is right on the beach so would stay again for the right price.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 42Overall Satisfied
The hotel was in a very nice setting...great service...nice perks. Only complaint would be that it tended to be overly noisy in the morning. The hotel allowed neighboring rooms to place their door lock in a locked position and go back and forth between rooms. This happenned each morning that we were there starting early...no oppurtunity to sleep in whatsoever. If you like to get up early and that doesn't bother you then its a great hotel. I however, prefer to sleep in mornings while on vacation.

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 42Nice Place to stay
My wife and I stayed here just before July 4th. The rates went up just after we left. The 4 nights we stayed here were terrific. The hotel is right near the beach, the outside bar was great, and a short walk got you into the middle of town. We didn't move the car after we got there. We fully enjoyed our stay in this quiet, comfortable hotel.

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 42Great location. Golden Inn's seen better days.
Golden Inn has a great beach front location. However, the building is a little old and worn for what one might consider a "premium" lodging experience. Prices are high because of the beach front location. Staff was very helpful, and promptly switched us to a different room, after the first room was unsuitable due to a foul smell. Pool area is hopping on the weekends. Enjoyable live reggae music during the day on weekends. Cabana bar was charming, and grilled burgers outside looked good, but we didn't partake.
