Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens

Awesome!

I read all the reviews for the hotel. I do not agree with the bad reviews. This hotel exceeded our expectation for sure. Sam was awesome, he was able to extend our check out time til 3pm. The bartender was cute and sweet =) The room was just like the picture. I would recommend this hotel to all my relatives and friends!!!

Waited on the phone for 30 minutes

My train was very late getting into LA so I called the hotel at 11 pm on Saturday night to let them know that I would be checking in late. After navigating a bewildering automatic phone system I found myself on hold for 20 minutes before talking with a hotel reservation representatvie at which point I described my simple request of a late check in. I was told that they could not help me and that I would need to contact the front desk and the person directed me to call back as they could not transfer me. After calling back it took several attempts on the automated phone system to get through to the front desk at which point they were able to confirm a late check in. This was not the way I wanted to spend my night out in LA, on the phone, on hold for 30 minutes for a very simple request. That being said the room was fine, the hotel quite clean and the staff friendly.

Great Hotel

You will definitely get your money's worth. The room was great, the garden on the third floor was a perfect place to relax. The only negative thing I have to say about the hotel is that the front desk was incompetent and upon arrival we were told that there is no bell service at that time, we had to wait half an hour for the cart, take the cart to our room ourselves and then call the front desk to let them know that they can come and get it. The guy at the front desk was extremely rude and unpleasant, but during the next couple of days we had an outstanding service. The location is very convenient - right next to 101 freeway and another added bonus was Starbucks attached to the hotel's building.

Old but nice rooms

You can tell that the hotel has been their for a while, it appears used, but then again the rooms are nice, with big TV's, and you never have to wait for the elevator. Self-service parking is very easy and it is about $24 a day. Internet in the room is about $14, a bit too much and should be included. The location is good for downtown, but you must keep in mind what part of LA you want to see, as I would recommend taking a hotel within and that area, as distances in LA are very big. A cab to Sunset strip was about $42.

I love the location of this Hotel its right downtown not much driving distance from attractions.

Great Hotel, but...

really put a damper on the trip with high parking prices and required deposit.

Needs minor improvement

Checking in & out of this hotel was worse than waiting in line for the DMV. Staff was helpful but cleaning staff consistently took medications while tidying up our room. Views & asthetics of the hotel were fantastic but I will not stay there again. On the plus side, having access to the local plaza & market made the convenience worth all staffing issues.
