Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 114$24/day parking!
They did not inform me when I checked in. I stayed two nights and the lady told me that your parking fee is $24. I did not know it is $24 per day. The room was cleaned but everything is just old. The carpet, shower tub and lamp definitely neeeded to be replaced.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 114Got the job done
I stayed at this hotel for two weeks due to a business trip and the proximity to my customer location. I stayed in two different rooms since I checked out over the weekend. Here is my experience.... They seem a bit short staffed on the front desk - only one or two people there and pretty crowded most of the time - there are a lot of Asian guests, and I think this slows things down at the front desk due to the language barrier. Once you are checked in and past the front desk, things get better... The rooms were spacious - a huge closet was very nice. I had a refrigerator in each room which was nice since I was there two weeks. Everything worked, the rooms were clean - nothing spectacular, but cozy enough for two weeks. The elevators are fast - there are 4 of them, so I didn't waste time each day waiting for elevators - very nice I never ate at any of the restaurants at the hotel so I can't comment on the food, but there is a starbucks as part of the hotel which was very nice. I also didn't rent a car - the daily parking fee at the hotel is outrageous, and I chose to use public transportation the entire two weeks I was there - once you figure out the system, there is little need to have a car, as los angeles has a very good public transportation system. The flyaway bus to/from the airport is only seven bucks each way, so you'll save a lot if you don't rent a car. The only real complaint I have is there are very few places to eat close to the hotel. There is an asian grocery store behind the hotel so I bought supplies there, but if you are looking for a lot of selection for dining within walking distance, you might want to look elsewhere. Overall, the hotel was fine, but I wasn't in the room a lot due to my work schedule. If you don't mind the limited selection of restaurants and the fact that the hotel is in Little Tokyo, you'll be fine - frankly, I enjoyed the cultural experience.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 114Slower check ins and outs
I'm pretty regular at this hotel. Noticed over the last few weeks that it's taking a lot longer to get checked in and out. The staff is pleasant when I get up to the desk but you can tell they are under a little bit of stress because of the lines.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 114Needs Improvement
The beds were hard and not comfortable. We had to call housekeeping to come clean our shower when we checked in, it looked like the shower had backed up into the tub and then drained again leaving it very dirty. Needed a bellman on Sunday morning, there were none to be found. The lobby is gorgeous but I expected a lot more from the rooms. It is not at all how it is advertised.

They offer complimentary shuttle service within a 2 mile radius and they even come and pick you up. The staff was great.

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 114Great Location
The hotel looked great, very plush. The neighborhood is fabulous - there are a ton of great restaurants in walking distance and I suggest you use them. The food in the Azalea restaurant is pretty bad (do not order the chicken pot pie) and the Thousand Cranes is very expensive. The bars and restaurants in the hotel are almost always empty; the restaurant in the Japanese garden is open very limited hours. Luckily, the hotel connects to Weller Court, which has some terrific food, and there are tons of restaurants in a few block radius.

Trip Type: Business Review 11 of 114Great neighborhood
The Kyoto Grand is in a great neighborhood - there are terrific restaurants within walking distance, which is great becaue the food in their Garden restaurants is overpriced and the food in their main restaurant is pretty bad. I did enjoy the garden - the free jazz on Thursdays, watching Monday night football, or just relaxing. The bar in the garden is open very limited hours and the Genji bar was empty every time I went in. That was a great encouragement to go out and enjoy the neighborhood around you!

Nice location and safe environment. Pricey hotel but it probably worth it for the location.

Trip Type: Business Review 15 of 114Medicore service and okay rooms
So everything I read on the reviews is true. I waited in line for about 30 minutes (like #5 in line) while the hotel tried to check in people. There wasn't a special convention or anything, they were just really slow. I got to my room and its a basic hotel. Nothing fancy. I paid a cheap price and everything was good except for the customer service at check-in.
