It is what it is

The room was clean, but it seemed a little run down. For the price it was fair though... if you want a 5 star experience, you're going to spend a five star amount of $$$. Overall it was an okay experience... my only complaint was that the walls were so thin you could hear the neighboring guests turning the water on and off to shower, and it was extremely loud while we were trying to sleep. The receptionist at the front desk was more than helpful, she was cheery and willing to help me find some happy hour places for a tuesday night. She was awesome. But the hotel itself was just okay. I would stay here again if I was in a pinch or didnt want to spend much, but it might not be my first choice.

Better than expected

We went to San Diego for a girl's getaway weekend. The hotel worked out great for us. The location was close to everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is older but deserves a high 2 star rating. You have to eat at the waffle restaurant. I'm not much of a waffle eater but as your walking thru the parking lot the sweet smell of fresh waffle's cooking. Yummmmm We will definitely stay there again.

Pleasently Surprised

Well kept and very clean motel. Reminded me of my first trip to California in 1960. The architecture and landscaping around the "difinitive" California pool. Priceless. Waffle house had delicious breakfasts but a tad pricey. If you want to experience the California of the 60's, here's your place. Room was very basic but exceptionally clean, staff was very attentive and the lobby had free coffee and tea. I am planning my next stay for a weekend of lounging by the pool and hot tub.

Not bad

It was actually comfortable and clean, if you can get past the typical hotel "cheesy" look. The bathroom seemed to have been redone so it was very clean looking.

Comfortable Stay

It was a clean, comfortable hotel with a very friendly staff. The staff is hospitable and would go the extra mile with the littlest request.

Decent Room for the Price, But Needs Some Maintenance

We arrived at this hotel about four hours prior to the listed check-in time. The front desk staff was very friendly and attentive and had no problem getting us to our room early. In fact, it wasn't an issue at all. Since the hotel is two stories, and all rooms are accessed outdoors, a bellhop was called right away to deliver our bags to the room. The room itself is rather large. Ample space for four people (though our party was only two). The room, while non-smoking, was obviously smoking at one time. The musty odor was noticeable throughout our stay. If you hope to do any work on a laptop during your stay, you can forget about it. The lone table in the room was a small circular table that barely held a laptop and a book. The lighting was anywhere from paltry (the entry light switch worked one, very dim light) to sufficient (when all the lights in the room where turned on), and there was an electric socket that was rather loose and didn't always work. The outdoor pool was heated, which came in handy during a night swim and the hot tub was very roomy. All in all, I'd recommend this hotel to a cheap alternative to some of the other chains on the same street (called Hotel Circle), especially if you plan on exploring the sites and don't spend much time in your room.

Very convenient

It worked out for us because we just need a place to stay. This hotel is very close to everything.
