Kauai Sands Hotel

Great for the money.

Don't expect luxus, but the value for money is fantastic.

Great Location for a low price

Hotel is located right on the beach and is easily found right off the main highway. For the price it can't be beat. Interior is dated but the rooms are large and have a balcony.

Had a great time and went back to stay again

Yes, the hotel is a little older with outdated style - but where else in all of Hawaii would you get a room with ocean view and a pool for such a price! There is a really nice little path you can walk on right by the ocean. Went back again a few weeks later.

Great lodging and location for the price!

Kauai Sands is the best deal on the island of Kauai - it is clean, comfortable, and worth every penny. The staff was very considerate and gave us a free upgrade both times we stayed and booked with hotels.com. There is no where on any of the islands you can enjoy a place right on the ocean for such a great price. We will definitely be back.

NEEDS NEEDS NEEDS Improvement

We were only staying and using the shower at the facility for a few hours before we caught our airplane. Thank goodness it was for only a few hours. Very ran down, very outdated, not perfectly clean in the bathroom (I won't go into it here). Airconditioner did not work but the noisy fan helped. Staff nice, location good, price too high for the quality. We will check into another location next time. Will not be back.

A hidden gem!!

For the price we paid this was an awesome hotel. Great location, clean, friendly staff and right on the beach. If you want a great place to sleep or watch tv this is the place to do this.I am very budget minded and this is so-o that. Very safe and secure, too.

Perfect location for the price

This is a real Hawaii gem in the midst. If you want an experience in Hawaii history this is a great place to stay. Located on the beach it has a wonderful view of sea life and an occasional Monk Seal. If you don't mind walking next door to the Coconut Grove shopping center to dine (or very close hotels all around) This hotel is perfect for the price. Staff are very friendly and helpful and a joy to be around. I highly recommend this to others especially if you are coming to Kauai to explore. Families will also love this place with two pools.

Needs improvement

This is the second time I've stayed here in the last 5 years. It is an older hotel and needs updating, but the grounds are very nice and it is right on the beach. While the room was clean, we did have cockroaches in the kitchenette and bathroom. The window A/C was very loud and as it was humid outside, the room was too warm to sleep if the A/C was not on so I slept with a pillow over my head. The hotel was quiet... no noise from adjoining rooms... and I appreciated that the pool closed at 6:00 as it was right outside my patio. All in all, the 2 nights I spent here at the end of my trip were fine, but I don't think I could stay here for longer than that.

cheap and nice hotel

I just stayed 1 night there, but it's so nice. room is clean, quiet and not small. the beach is so close. so I could see sunrise in the morning.

Great room for the money

This was my second time to visit this hotel. Not much has changed in two years. The hotel is an older property and has not been updated in many years; however, for the price, you can not beat it. It is in an awesome location..convenient to both sides of the island for activities. And there are lots of amenities nearby. I would recomend that the pool stays open later, I couldn't believe that they close it at 6 pm! After all, it is Hawaii!

Outdated

The beds were very uncomfortable (could feel springs). The room had a wall unit a/c, no hair dryer, and no iron and board. The room had no electric outlets at all so I had to charge my phone in the bathroom. It was not dirty or nasty but everything was definitely old.
