Trip Type: Family Review 1 of 5Disappointed
Having stayed with other Crowne Plaze hotels in the recent past, we were very disappointed in the Cleveland property. Until 12 months ago, the property was a Sheraton. In a year's time you would expect upgrades or remodeling to be in evidence. Everything is worn down or worn out. The restaurant is in the basement, so you miss out on the cityscape and Lake views. (WHO made that design decision?) Absolutely the best hotel location if you're interested in the Great Lakes Science Museum, the Rock Hall of Fame, or Browns games. Theatre district was a bit of a walk, but still do-able. Our sense is that the property is understaffed and has not received training in area sites and activities. They could not provide a walking map of the city. Rather than give us directions to specific sites, they told us "Oh, that's a tourist thing. There's probably a flier about it in the rack over there. You can find their phone number. Or we can look it up for you." (True....it happened twice with different desk personnel.)

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 5Some Good Some Bad
My husband and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Cleveland City Centre this past weekend. The hotel was easy to find, and the parking ramp was right next door. We parked ourselves but there was also valet available. We got there right at 3:00 (check-in time), and found a line of 15 people waiting to check in. They had one person working the desk, and we waited half an hour to get up to the counter. I would think that they would have multiple people working the desk at check in. The gentleman that did the check in was very nice though. Our room was on the 10th floor. The halls were dark and just felt dirty. There was no ice machine on our floor. Our room on the other hand was great. It was clean, spacious and had a great Lake View. It did not have a refrigerator (as most rooms do these days), I guess it must have been extra. The walls from room to room must be paper thin because we could hear every word the room next to us was saying. In the morning housekeeping walked right into our room without even knocking at 10:30am. The location of the hotel was great though, and probably the only real good thing about staying at this hotel. It was a few blocks walk one way to the Warehouse District, and a few blocks walk the other way to Progressive Field. Next time we go to Cleveland we will probably try another hotel near by instead.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 5Fix the Elevators and Expand the Parking Lot
I worked at this hotel back in the 1980's when it was privately held and called the Bond Court. The hotel still holds its 1970's "charm" but is clean and updated...that is the lobby and the rooms. The elevators were always a problem back in the 80s and they continued to be 25+ years later. They don't have enough to begin with and not only was one passenger elevator down, but the one and only garage elevator was also down. The hotel was oversold and this created a mess. We had to walk up and down 9 floors to make the most of our time. It's really unfortunate because it is a great location and nice rooms. The hotel garage does not hold enough cars, but fortunately there was just enough space for us after scouring 5 floors of parking a few times...but of course the spots are very tight...all in all we enjoyed our stay in Cleveland despite the fact that the Indians lost to The Reds! :-)

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 5Great room for a great price
If you want a downtown Cleveland stay, the Crowne Plaza is excellently located. We had a room on a high floor with a greattttt view of Lake Erie and the Brown's stadium. Walkable to downtown amenities. Staff is very helpful.
