Aston Aloha Beach Hotel

Great hotel & location

We stayed in the junior suite for 3 nights, 4 days with our 2 & 3 year olds and everything was better than we expected! The location is great, so close to the beach, the kamalani playground, shopping areas and dining areas. Our room was very clean and the housekeepers were always making sure that we had everything we needed. The only thing that I would have liked was room service (it isn't available at this hotel), but this is only my preference to make it easier for us and our kids. Overall, I would recommend this place and we would stay here in the future.

Great room for the money

We reserved this hotel at the last minute and chose it specifically for it's location to the airport and for it's price. So our expectations were a bit low. But we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The grounds are beautiful, the staff was wonderful and the rooms were exactly what we needed...including a small refrigerator! The location was even better than we thought since it was a very short walk to the Lydgate beach...a perfect beach for our 2 year old. And the swimming pool/hot tub were great too. We were only at this hotel for 2 days and we enjoyed every minute of it. Our only complaint would be the roosters that wake you up at 6:30 am, but being there for only 2 days, it wasn't a problem for us.

Great location, okay hotel

The location is great, with Lyndgate beach right behind it, which is a perfect spot for children and snorkeling beginners. The hotel is about okay. Service is adequate, but out of 3 washer/driers, two are broken. The vending machine won't accept any dollar bills even though it's designed to. You can see spider webs in lots of places. The towels in the room are pretty worn out. We didn't try the dining hall. If you are in Kauai, want a hotel on the beach, and you will be spending most of your time outside of your hotel. Then this is a good place to stay with a reasonable price.

Beautiful Ocean Views and Pool

The staff that checked us in and out were friendly and helpful. If you have your own computer there are "hot spots" in the lobby for free internet, if not they charge 20 cents a minute on their computers for internet connection. We had 2 rooms, one with a small refrigerator and 2 full size beds and one with a small kitchenette and 2 full size beds, they also offer a single king size bed. The kitchenette had a sink, dishes, small refrigerator, and cabinet space, but no microwave. There was a safe in the bathroom for a $2 daily charge. We had laundry facilities for guests near our room ($1.75 for wash and $1.50 to dry for 30 minutes- but the commercial washer couldn't handle 5 beach towels and it took 2 hours to dry them). The hotel has a great pool, tennis courts, outdoor grill with food for sale near the pool. There's an easy walk to the beach with an area for small children to swim with virtually no waves. The waves were rough in the surrounding ocean. Con's: The hotel is older, although well maintained. The beds were too hard for my liking and the pillows were small.

great room for the money but the facility needs work

This will be a fantastic resort with a little TLC. The room was large & comfortable for three adults. The view was fantastic. The king size bed & sofa bed were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly & accomodating. The pools are very clean. The restaurant was reasonable with good food & nice ambiance. Easy access to the protected beach which is great for families. I can't understand the neagative reviews.

Hotel need improvement

Great Location and beach access. Our room was dark, musty and mold/mildewy. I think the hotel just needs to upgrade it's cleaning and it would be fine. I'm just not a big fan of mold and mildew.

Great room for the money

This hotel was nice but the rooms were a little stale smelling. I wished the sliding glass door would have opened so I could air it out a bit. It was a lovely place for the money and great for families. I would recommend this hotel. Not the absolute best but far more than adequate.

Nice location

Positives.. Great location next to the beach park and seawalled snorkeling/swimming areas. Friendly and helpful staff. Nicely maintained grounds and pools. Free wireless internet in lobby and bar areas. Negatives.. They are in need of new mattresses (very low on the comfort scale) and no microwave. The dining facilities had very limited choices and the prices were high.

Good for the money

For one of the cheaper hotels on Kauai, this hotel was clean and peaceful. The dining facilities were overpriced, but everything else was satisfactory.

Great for the Cost!

I, like you, considered this hotel because of the cost. It was the cheapest hotel I could find in the Lihu'e/Kapa'a area. I read some good and bad reviews and was debating spending more money on a "better rated" hotel. Consequently, my wallet won in the end and I booked with this hotel and I'm very happy I did! Cons: -Limited TV channels (No HBO, STAR, History or Food channel, Comedy central, TLC, etc.) -No free internet for guests to use. -Not a good bar or restaurant. -Pillows were thin. Pros: -Great location! Right off the 56, but not so close you can hear the traffic, next to a beach and in between Kapa'a and Lihu'e which made driving to those places, and the rest of the island, easier. -The Lydgate State Park is only a 4 minute walk away. There is access to the beach from the hotel by a footpath. -Affordable rates. -Beautiful Japanese garden that surrounds the hotel. -Big rooms! I got the cheapest room possible and had a lot of space. -Friendly, cheerful and helpful staff (one woman at the front desk memorized my name and room # and I was only there 3 nights and saw her twice!) -Ample parking. -A 'Guest Activities' desk where someone gives you advice on where to go and what to see. -Free newspaper in the morning. -$5 a day snorkle gear rental. I was not expecting great things from this hotel because of how cheap the room was and some negative reviews, but was impressed by this hotel. I highly recommend staying here and would definately come again. If you are traveling on a budget, this is a great place to come to because the rooms are cheap and you get the same beauty and service as a more expensive hotel!

Ok for money

The location is great for family stays. The beaches are perfect for small children. The hottub is nice. The pool is unheated so it was cold for the season (depending on the day.) The ocean view rooms are nice. The ground floor rooms have tile floors (some are a little scary - we requested a change due to a large number of mosquitos in the first room - didn't see any the rest of the stay). The beds are uncomfortable (you can feel the springs). Staff was very friendly.

Tropical Delight

The hotel is quite, short walk to the beach, friendly hotel staff. The hotel is under going renovations but other then construction tape to identify the work zones you would not know it. The beach has a very nice swim area that is separated from the strong ocean surf by a lava rock wall it makes for easy enjoyable swimming for young swimmers or those that my not fare well with open water currents. Great price for a ocean front resort. Tropical Hawaiian decor.
