Trip Type: With Friends Review 1 of 80Perfect Hotel for the price!
If you are looking for a nice and clean hotel to crash in for a cheap price and great location, than this is it. Totally friendly staff, clean room, walking distance to Union Square restaurants, shopping, and bars. The room I had was small, but I was there to see the city and spend time with an old friend, so we just needed a few beds at the end of the night. If you are a family staying and looking for space, you may want to see if they have bigger rooms, but for two bachelors using this as home base after a night out on the town, you really couldn't ask for anything more. A+ Stratford!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 80Decent, reasonable stay
I found it to be a very reasonable stay. Rooms were a bit small, but not too bad. Sink in room was a bit odd. Room was quiet and comfortable. Only bother was the housekeeping knocking at 8AM to try to do the upkeep. That really irritated. Hotels need to get a plan for that - like knowing when people have checked out. Really angered me as I sleep in, in the mornings.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 80great location close to the cable car line
This hotel is the greatest. The rooms were clean but small. Right on the cable car line. We could walk to nice resturants and then cab to the theater. The only problem we had was with the valet service. When we were ready to leave we called the desk and requested our car. It took 45 mins to an hour to get it and the attendant was very rude. The charge was very expensive. All in all our stay was great. The breakfast was more then ample every day.

You can't beat the location or the price. Just make sure you can parallel park if you are going to leave your car for the valet!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 6 of 80Good value
The staff is friendly and helpful, the location is convenient, and our room was clean and tidy. Our room was tiny, and there's no coffee pot, but we only slept there anyway and in-hotel breakfast was included. We would definitely stay here again.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 80Best Location!
I've stayed at The Stratford Hotel many times and will continue to stay there when I visit San Francisco. The location can't be beat. It is in the heart of Union Square. There is a pizza place and chinese food place directly across the street for that late night snack and a bar a few doors down from that with cheap drinks. If you don't mind the noise, the street side rooms are great, you get to see & hear the cable cars go by. The rooms are small but every hotel I've been in in San Francisco is small. I think it comes with the territory.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 13 of 80Great Room/ Location for the money
I wasn't very familiar with San Francisco before my trip. All I knew was that it was expensive, so when I saw that the hotel was located at Union Square and then I saw the price, I figured it probably wasn't a great location. I was wrong. Union Square is packed with things to do and though it's kind of far from Fisherman's Wharf, the cable cars run right past the hotel. If you walk up the hill one block you can jump on and ride right down to the water. I really enjoyed my stay.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 14 of 80Amazing deal for the price
The room cost was just pocket change compared to the value. The place is a little boutique hotel in the heart of union square right on Powell Street where the trollies run. Everything is right there and all the transport is accessible! The ride from the airport was also really easy as the BART stops literally 2 blocks away from the hotel. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS WONDERFUL FRIENDLY AND CLEAN HOTEL!!
