Outstanding Hotel

I really enjoyed my stay at the Stratford. It's conveniently located a block from Union Square with stops on the BART and Muni Metro a block away as well. The room was very basic, but at the rate I paid, I didn't need much more than a place to lay my head. Very friendly helpful staff. Loved my stay there.

Horrible. End of story

This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The bed was a rock, we had a wonderful view of a brick wall, this was a 10 by 10 room with a queen bed, and last but not least the so called breakfast they serve is packaged muffins and bread you have to toast yourself. One good thing about this hotel is the location of it.

great location, but most of alll- clean, clean, clean.. I have a two year I felt secure to have her in the room. I will come back to the hotel.

Great location!

This hotel is an easy walk to China Town and lots of great shopping. It is right next to a Cable Car stop which makes getting to the major tourist stops very easy! The ticket booth for the Cable Cars is just a few blocks down the street. The room was small but very clean. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a great location and a clean room at a good price.

Great room for the money

If you're looking for a hotel in the heart of San Francisco, this is it. Everything you need is close by. Or just hop on any number of transportation options to get you to your destination. The BART and cable cars are only two blocks away. True, the rooms are small, but I was here to see San Francisco. If you're looking for a safe place to stay, and use it as a starting spot, this is the hotel.

Great room for the money

If you want a hotel with good rates and in the heart of the city, this is the place. I was looking for somewhere that I could use as jumping point to see the sights and sounds of San Francisco. Found it! The rooms are nice and comfortable. i felt safe here. It's a great place to stay, and I would stay here again.

Mixed feelings

This hotel has some good and some bad points. Good Location - Union Square is great Room - Small but clean Price - Not so Good Reading light - Many rooms do not have a reading light next to the bed. ok for TV but not to read at night. Elevator - only 1 and slow Temperature - No A/C thus an open window is necessary with the noise and SF lights.

Nice stay at the Stratford

The Stratford is located in a great location for shopping and playing tourist. The room was small, but clean and well kept. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a simple yet kind of hip place at a reasonable price, the Stratford is for you.

Good/Bad

The hotel personnel were very helpful and friendly. The hotel has charm and is convenient for tourists. The most incovenient things were the slow elevator, ice machine only on one floor, and no drinks machine in hotel.

Great Location

We stayed here on June 25, two adults and two kids. big bathroom, room very clean. I find it funny that people stay in the city and complain about noise. It was real nice to hear the cable car bells and feel the atmosphere of San Francisco. Hotels down the street can cost you much much more. We arrived after midnight and there is a pizza place open all night across the street. If your looking for location and price, this is the hotel for you. As to the breakfast, if you want a nice cereal, muffin, coffee and free orange juice and toast this is for you. Nice spread when you consider it is FREE. Pretty Nice

Overall, the hotel was very nice and in a great location. The only down sides were that the rooms were really small and the elevator was painfully slow. Neither of those were a big deal to us, though. We didn't have hot water one morning, but every other time we showered, day or night, it was fine.
