Could not beat the location of this European Style hotel. Small clean rooms but no in room coffee. Coffee was available in the tea room, but only in early am, but plenty of services are within a half block! Will return many times in the future.

It was not bad. It was convenient because it is near to downtown and bart station. However, do not expect a good hotel. It's small and old. I was satisfied because I could get discount.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 68Great location, cleanliness and service for the money
Don't expect a huge room, but go confident you'll be in a great location sleeping in a clean room. The service was also good!

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 68Great Location, Reasonable Price
Perfect location, steps from Union Square. The rooms are pretty small but comfortable. The staff is very nice and helpful. One complaint - don't get a room by the elevator! The walls are thin and we woke up at 8am to people walking in and out.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 68Perfect location
I love the location of Stratford Hotel. We did not spend too much time on waiting for the cable car since we picked a good time to be there. The cable car was just several blocks down to Powell St. It is a little weird to have a bathroom sink in the room but not in the bathroom. Anyway, I will come back to this hotel again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 68Good for the price
The room was a bit small (especially the shower!), but very clean and nicely furnished. I would definitely stay there again. Oh, but breakfast is just awful, unless you like having just dried toast and stale cereal.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 68Great location!
the best thing of this hotel is really great location! we could spend time at night at Union square. breakfast wasn't very nice, but still good. and room was so clean :D BUT, this hotel is at Union square, at night, little bit noisy. I strongly recommand this hotel. you'll like it, too!

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 68Great Hotel, Expensive Parking
The hotel was awesome. You just need to factor in that it is an additional $25 per night plus tax to park. They only have a valet service, and it is so centralized in Union Square, this really is your only option to park. Other than the unexpected fee, this was a wonderful hotel to stay at and it definitely met our needs.

Room is great, great location, clean, but the room is very small. Not good for families but good for couples or small families (3 ppl).

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 68A Stay Worth it!
Very convenient location on Powell Street! I read previous reviews before purchasing a 2 night stay... they stated that they set aside your bags... so you can go and play! - and they did! I am so thankful for the convenience and generous service. I highly recommend this hotel if you are going to be out and about... which is why we were in San Francisco, then this is a perfect place to stay the night and get up and go for the day!

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 68Great location!
I loved being right on Union Square. The room was very small but it was clean, surprisingly quiet, and had a comfortable bed. The elevator smelled like ant spray but the room smelled fine. The breakfast was very basic but when we went out to breakfast, it was pretty pricey. Might be worth saving the money from breakfast to do other things in SF. I would stay at the Stratford Hotel again and would recommend it to friends and family.
