Stratford Hotel, a C-Two Hotel

Great deal

Great little room and very quiet. The hotel had cahrm (the stairways had an old iron hand rail) and did no have the big box hotel feel that I abhor. It was clean, safe and the staff were helpful and friendly. The location could not be beat! My only criticism was the breakfast. It consisted of generic white and wheat bread, soft bagels and some juice.

Tiny rooms, good towels, great location

Just around the corner from Macy's, and 1.5 blocks from the BART and the start of the Powell St cable car. Convenient to shopping, theater, dining, and getting around the city. No surprise the rooms are insulated from the street noise because there's no view. Cons: you might not be able to fit a full suitcase plus get to the sink in this room, the clock radio is the cheapest of cheap, and the sad ceiling fan does not cut humidity or heat (which is rare in SF but the public spaces are air conditioned so you can really tell the difference in your room).

fantastic location for the price

An older hotel right in the thick of things. The cable car outside the door. I was afraid it would be noisy, but even with a union demonstration going on, the room was quiet. The staff is super friendly and helpful. And it's the best location you can imagine. Only downside, the room was the size of a postage stamp. But both it and the bath super clean with comfortable bed. And how much time are you going to spend in the room anyway?!

Great location, comfortable, clean and affordable!

Evertything we expected for the price.. and MORE! Rooms are small but cosy and clean. We were on the 7th floor and it was quiet, even with the window open at night. Hotel is very convenient for Union Square, cable car, MUNI, BART, restaurants, shopping.. everything! Free breakfast is basic (coffee, toast, cereal etc)and gets busy between 8am -9am. There are plenty of affordable diners close by if you want a cooked breakfast instead. Ask the young guy on the front desk for restaurant recommendations..he knows his stuff!

For its price, it is a great convenient hotel to get to anywhere.

WOW, a great hotel

I stayed at this hotel week of sept 15. I got to the hotel at 2:45 and we were allowed to check-in. The room was in the back of the hotel and quiet. If you plan on staying in your room for more then taking a shower and sleeping then you probably wont like this hotel because the rooms are small but are very clean and have been updated recently. Upon leaving, the desk clerk was very helpful and told us how to get to the amtrak station. Cable cars are on this street, Powell BART station is less than an 8 minute walk and overall this is a really great location

Good Hotel for the Budget Minded

The Stratford hotel exceeded my expectations. The room was small but very clean and neat and updated. Television only offered 20 channels and it was mounted up towards the ceiling. I was given a choice of a room at the back and a room on the street and I chose the back room. The usual noise of Powell St. was hardly noticeable. The elevator was slow. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Great Location

Can't beat the location. Steps from union square shopping and tour buses. Right by the main cable car station at Powell and Market. Easy walk to theater's (Go see Wicked! its great!) They wouldn't let me keep my bike in the room but free safe storage was available in the basement...not a scratch on the bike. Conveinient valet parking, just park in front of the hotel - the parking rates were much cheaper than garages in the area for overnight. 50 yards from very expensive hotels at a fraction of the cost. Stay with confidence and enjoy the city.

Great Value

The hotel room was priced reasonably for it's location. The room I stayed in was clean but very small. If I had been there longer than one night I would have upgarded to a bigger room.

Great place to stay

We will be returning to the Hotel Stratford when we come back to SF. The location is ideal, close to BART, Muni, cable cars, street cars. Vibrant neighborhood, shopping and restaurants galore. Our single room was cozy, the decor was nice - we appreciated the vintage feel quite a bit. Staff was friendly. helpful, always smiling and knowledgeable about the ciy. "Breakfast" left something to be desired, but wouldn't hold that against them. We got a discount on the room when we reserved, but would gladly pay full price on next visits.

Tiny Accomodations

The room was overpriced, because it was exceptionally TINY. I have never seen such a small room, and I've been to European hotels that are small! I was upgraded so that was nice and the location was on top of Union Square. I was excited that they had a breakfast, but I was slightly disappointed in the selection. If you aren't planning on spending a lot of time in the room, then this is the perfect hotel for you!
