We have stayed here in the past...it is in a convenient location with access to shopping and the beach....it was very clean and well kept......some of those surrounding establishments stay open till very early in the morning and you can hear the goings on but the drone on the a/c drowned that out...we will visit this hotel again in the future....sincerely,danny......there should be a rate for Kamaiana's....aloha.

Watch Out for Bedbugs

I statrted itching as soon as I slept one night in this hotel. Since coming back from Hawaii the itch has worsened. Since I didn't go anywhere but to restaurants and sightseeing with the car, I suspect bedbugs or some other parasite. The room stunk and I had to fumigate it with Lysol spray. The air conditioning was noisy and I needed to wear earplugs. There is only one ice machine for this approximately 15 story building and the ice was always out. This hotel needs to be thoroughly cleaned. The carpets appeared to be over 20 years old and might need to be ripped out. On the plus side, there's easy, cheap parking and it's conveniently located behind the Ala Moana Shopping Center. The staff are friendly and it's not their fault that the hotel is such a dump.

Needs improvement

A decent hotel at a good location near to Alamoana hotel and Walmart. Renovation needed in near future. Towels appear to be old. Disadvantage - no free wireless or cable internet.

you get what you pay for. the location cannot be better for my specific needs. the workers have pride in their job and even though this is an old and 2 star hotel, the surrounding variety of shops and restaurants make this a great economical place to stay.

excellent location

This is a very convenient hotel, although it is rather old and can be renovated. The location is excellent- close to shopping malls and local restaurant which is why we stay here - most local people would agree.

Good for families

This is not one of those luxury hotels, mind you. Great for families and groups. The one bedroom unit has a nice kitchen and is spacious. Love this hotel always. Would definitely return.

Hotel okay

The hotel is okay if you just plan on finding a place to lay your head. It does need some repairs and updating and if you want peace and quiet, request for higher floors. Families usually have the lower floors so there is a lot of noise with children frolicking about.
