Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 7a nice stay
The hotel was a nice little place. There were carpet stains in my room, but otherwise the rest appeared clean. A subway station is close by with an entrance on the same block and one directly across the street. There are no train stations nearby though, so you would need to take the subway to a stop with a train station and make a transfer. This is not that bad, and you'll probably find you don't need to ride the trains if traveling around Tokyo with all the subway locations. My stay here was mostly just to have a place to sleep, so I didn't notice too much around this hotel. The area wasn't too busy, and tend to be pretty quiet at night.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 3 of 7Nice, Convenient Hotel with Friendly Staff; But Room was Filthy
The outside appearance of the Hotel Monterey Hanzomon was very nice and sleek. Even the lobby, elevators and room floors were also well maintained. Upon first glance, the rooms seem cute and well maintained. However, and I'm not sure if it was just our room, but the carpet, walls, door knobs and even the dust ruffles on the beds were absolutely disgusting. Blatant stains everywhere. Stains that could easily be resolved with a bucket of warm water or some Windex and a rag. It was really gross to me, and I even made sure to wear socks in the room because I didn't want my bare feet on the nasty carpet. This was our last hotel after a two week+ trip across various cities in Japan, and it was, by far, the dirtiest. We even stayed in a vastly non-glamorous capsule hotel in Akihabara, and while it was a bit dingy and older, it was still far cleaner than our hotel room at the Hanzomon. It just stuck me as odd that the room was so poorly cleaned, because the exterior of the hotel and the general appearance of everything else seemed quite chic and well maintained. I wouldn't stay here again for this reason, but I guess I would recommend it to others. Maybe it was just our misfortune to get the filthiest room in the hotel? Considering I read other reviews prior to staying here and no one mentioned having an issue with cleanliness, maybe others who stay have better luck. It was also nice having the subway station right across the street. Very convenient.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 4 of 7Very Nice Hotel
The hotel Monterey Hanzomon is a great place to stay in Tokyo. The cost was reasonable and the hotel and rooms are very clean and comfortable. The rooms are a little small by western standards but are a good size compared to other hotels in Japan. The subway is located directly across the street which makes getting around easy. In terms of the neighborhood, there is not to much going on so you will need the subway quite a bit. Overall, I would stay there again if in Tokyo.
