Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 19Nice experience
We had paid for a waterview and arrived a little late (6:45 pm checked in) so we got one of the less desirable rooms which overlooks the mechanical area. It also had a view of the bay bridge. It was very cramped and we were disappointed. Upon discussion with the front desk, however, they were able to change our room the next day and it was a much bigger room. It did not have a view of the bay bridge but we were elevated away from the mechanical area so we were happy. The location was great and there were awesome restaurants at the Market street across the street as well as a Saturday market which was incredible.

With the Embarcadero and Ferry Building right outside the hotel door, this is a great location for a lazy weekend.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 19Awesome hotel, but bad location for nightlife
The hotel was great. The staff was wonderful. The concierge took great care of us. Arranged for a rental car to be delivered to the hotel at a much cheaper rate than if we were to book it ourselves. Even allowed us to return it to the airport for free. We got there with no plans on how to see the city, but Brian took care of everything for us. Keith took care of the rental car with me on the phone, a week before we arrived in San Francisco. They are really great!! The only drawback is the location. It is located in the financial district. While there is a lot to do during the day (across from Ferry Port and a 15 min walk from Union Square), at night it basically shuts down. The hotel bar has a very lively after-work crowd on Fridays, but if you are looking for some real nightlife, you will have to take a cab to another area.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 6 of 19Loved the location
Great location, walking distance to Pier 39. Bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. Room looked out into a courtyard that had equipment, which they tried to cover up with frosted glass on the window. Staff was very nice and helpful.

This hotel is normally way out of my price range. But I used my hotels.com welcome rewards (love hotels.com for that!). The hotel is definately deserving of at least the 4 star rating. We arrived early and our room wasn't ready, they took our bags and gave recomendations of things to do. On Tuesdays there is a wonderful farmers market down the street, great restaurants close and the bay bridge across the street. We returned to the hotel right at 3 and, even though the check in is at 3, they upgraded our room for waiting. The room was amazing, modernly decorated, very comfortable bed, nice sheets, a sitting area at the large window with a perfect view of the bay bridge. The bridge view was even perfect laying in bed at night. The bathroom and shower was very large. The hotel isn't near the main touristy things, it's in the business district. But the train is right across the street, so that didn't make a difference to us. We took the trains to and from the SFO airport, and Fisherman's Warf (where many different tours start, Aquarium, lots of shopping, Treasure Island, etc).

Trip Type: With Friends Review 12 of 19Great Hotel
This was a great hotel! I used to live in SF so I wanted to be comfortable, and feel as if I had a home base to return to while wandering around the city. The hotel service was wonderful, the rooms were ridiculously clean! It was a tad cookie cutter modern styling, but it was what I was expecting. The beds were so soft and plush that I actually hurt my neck and back from being used to a good old fashioned stiff bed. Parking was expensive for sure, but if you just want to pull up and not have to worry about anything, park it there. Overall it was a wonderful hotel, and would 100% recommend to others with confidence.

My husband and I love the Hotel Vitale. The minute we walked in the service was wonderful. The room was clean, and a very good size. The staff were great, and we just loved the idea that we were not in the middle of town. We were able to walk to Fishermans Warf. The next time we are in San Francisco we will stat there again. Small, but large in every other way
