A steal of a deal!

If you are looking for the glitz and glamor of a Waikiki beachfront hotel, this is not the place to stay. BUT if you are looking for an exceptional value amidst the high-priced hotels of the Waikiki area, this is the place for you! My husband and I were traveling with our six year old daughter and this place was perfect for our needs. Our room was on the 10th floor in the highest price range rooms. No view of the ocean, but a very pleasant view of the city and the Ala Wai canal. The room was very spacious and had high-speed Internet access. Although the parts that we saw of the hotel were not recently updated, they were extremely well maintained and very, very clean. Our bathroom had a very nice, recent remodel and was immaculately clean when we checked in. We were there for a week so I just wished that our bathroom had an actual scrub down once during our visit. It appeared that all they did was change our towels, make our beds and vacuum while we were there. We rely on kitchenettes when we travel and this one did not disappoint. We didn't have a rental car during our stay, but we did note that there was plenty of parking for guests who needed it. The front desk staff made you feel like you were staying with "local" family. They were always there to greet you as you were coming and going and were very knowledgeable about bus routes, area attractions, etc. The location was prime. Only a about a three block walk to the beach and well within a 15 minute walk of pretty much all the Waikiki attractions such as the zoo and aquarium. In retrospect, we are glad we were a couple blocks away from the hustle and bustle of Kalakaua and Kuhio Aves. as they can be very noisy! The main bus stops are less than a five minute walk away and the Food Pantry grocery store was a few blocks away so we could stock up our kitchenette. Should we return to Waikiki, we will definitely be staying here again! Especially for the price!

Good room for the money

Because of the full kitchen in the room, it saved us a lot of money with a family of four for breakfast and making sandwiches for lunch and one night making dinner in the room. The downer was that the air conditioner was a window unit. It never really got really cool, however, when we stay at pricey hotels, we always bump the air way down and it never gets as cool as we want it either, but with a window unit, it just took longer.

Huge rooms - quiet - great value!

The condo-size rooms were huge and had excellent full kitchens with pots and pans and dishes - everything you need! It was quite convenient to everything. I enjoyed every minute! We had free parking and free internet. The laundry was only $1 - cheaper than at home! There was a great bakery nearby, too.

Awesome Value, Amazing Aloha Spirit

The staff at the Ilima Hotel was above and beyond. I arrived after an extremely long travel day alone with my infant son. The two women at the counter were amazingly helpful (one of them even held my fussy little one while I signed check in papers). The hotel was conveniently located, just a couple of blocks from the beach (if that is your thing) and close to the International Marketplace and tons of other shopping and restaurants. When my son shut and locked the in room safe on accident they allowed us to leave the safe locked and did not charge us for the safe (in fact the staff didn't make a big deal of the fact that he had locked the safe at all). The Ilima is an older hotel, it is strange colors (the hotel is totally pink and the kitchens have old cabinets and stoves), but the place was very clean, the rooms were large and I cannot say enough good things about the staff at the Ilima! I don't know if I will ever be able to return to Oahu, but if I do I will definately return to the Ilima and I will recommend it to anyone I know who makes the trek to HI.

Great Find, Good Value, Very Laid Back, Good Neighborhood

This was a great bargain, close to transit and the Ala Wai canal which was a pleasant surprise. The service was great, and very friendly, the only negative we had was finding two very large dead cockroaches in our room (I understand these are common in Hawaii and it did not detract much from our stay). The part we enjoyed most was a heated small pool that our daughter loved! Overall would definitely recommend to anyone looking for good value.

Great hotel. You will be happy with everything. The building is older but room size was great. Staff extremely helpful, location is great.

Great Value

We really enjoyed our stay at the Ilima Hotel. Rooms were very clean with full kitchenettes so we could fix most of our meals which saved us money to do other things with. The staff was very helpful when we asked directions on how to get places. For the price it was the best place my wife and I have ever had in the area. We would definitely stay here again if we come to Oahu.

Great Place to Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Ilima Hotel. It was the best hotel room we have ever book via the internet. It was just as it advertised and more. The beds were very comfortable. It was very clean and well maintained and had a very nice decor. The staff was very helpful, polite, friendly and courteous. They were very accomodating, even with our grand kids. It is a great location. We would definitely go there again. We were in a deluxe studio room.

Great Value!!

Just like all the reviews I read, this hotel is a great value for your money. Yes, it is a bit older but very clean, comfortable with a very nice staff located in the heart of everything just a few minutes from the beach.

Good hotel - but remember - you get what you pay for

The hotel was very clean, but dated. It was nice having the full kitchen - got to eat breakfast in the hotel every morning to save costs. I had two complaints: #1-the bed was hard as a rock. My husband dubbed it "concrete". #2-when I asked for a late checkout so my daughter could get her nap in, they were very resistant. We had to call down three times and basically beg for it. I've asked for it at other hotels and not had an issue. Overall, I would recommend it for a short stay.
