Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 11Great hotel for the money
The room was better than expected. The hotel staff were both friendly and helpful at all times. The location is wonderful for getting around Waikiki. We will be back to this hotel. Free parking and wifi. The only complaint was the wifi. It kept dropping me off the internet, but the staff put me on with their internet provider. They tried to solve the problem, but it persisted. It wasen't that big a deal, as the beach, etc is more important than the internet when in Hawaii. Love this hotel and it's staff, that sings Hawaiian songs, at 11:30 AM each Friday, in the Lobby.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 11Perfect for Waikiki
Convenient location, free parking, spacious rooms, clean, friendly staff. Highly recommend. We could walk two blocks to food and shopping. Centrally located to lots of great places.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 11Decent, but not what was expected
The hotel probably was really popular in the late 60's thru mid-80's, just not now. My wife and I found that every room has 2 beds, compared to our hotel.com reservation itinery stating only one bed. Be prepared to buy breakfast somewhere because there is no breakfast offered from the hotel. But if you are on a very tight budget, this place will serve your purpose. You are about a 15-20 minute walk from the ocean, and minutes away from shops. Both my wife and I want to come back to Hawai'i, but we will not come to this hotel.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 11needs improvement
I stayed there with my boyfriend. I found the pictures the hotel posted and the virtual tours were misleading to the actual quality of the hotel. The hotel probably hadn't been renovated in a very long time either. I personally wouldn't stay there again for a romantic get away at least.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 11Very comfortable, spacious, with good service
I stayed in the hotel 5 nights with my girlfriend, and everything was fantastic. The only complaint I had was it's location in the middle of Waikiki, where prices for food are inflated and it's very crowded outside and on the nearby beaches. I would suggest driving to the other beaches on the island. We had no problems parking with Ilima's free first come, first serve system, so it's very possible to rent a car and still stay in Waikiki.

Very convenient to entertainment and restaurants in Waikiki. Everythings within walking distance. Great value for family on vacation. Will use for future vacation of family or relatives.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 11Great value
Overall the hotel was a great value for the money. My only real gripe is that the full size beds in the first room (RM 405) I stayed in at the Ilima were VERY firm. My shoulder actually hurt when I slept on my side. We moved rooms (RM 1105) to one with a king size bed. The beds in that room were much better.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 11Warm Reception
When we checked in we were warmly greeted. When we asked about the caution that parking was not guaranteed, we were assured that there would be no problem. If there was no parking space available, the desk clerk would give up her space for us.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 11No-frills hotel
Hote is old, but clean enough to make you feel comfortable. Spacious studio has everything you need like your own apt. Convenient location and friendly staff. Do not expect luxury as you did not pay for anything "extra".
