Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 39So/So
The only down side...we arrived @ 10:30pm, and our room still wasn't ready! Oh, wait, our room service section in our binder was ripped out, so we had no idea what the room service menu was. Other than that, it was fine. I think for the money, I would probably stay somewhere else...

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 39Such a cool hotel but stay was a nightmare
The hotel is very cool/trendy. Loved the art and decor as well as the lobby and bar area. All Aveda bath products were a nice touch. Rooms on the Hardrock website are nothing like what they look like in real life. Every penthouse is totally different and the pictures shown on the website are the most expensive version for that level room. Hotel accidently charged me twice for my room. Bill had $130 worth of mini bar charges that were false (I travel weekly and have never ever had this happen before). I had to call and get the extra charges removed from my credit card statement. All rockstar penthouses are located directly above the late night club so you can forget about sleeping. I had even told them I was coming with my 50 yr old mother for her birthday and no one warned me about the noise on that side of the hotel... 1,ooo square foot rooms "with balcony" were not a balcony at all it was a ledge with a railing. Needless to say I was totally disapointed in the hotel and totally over priced!

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 39what I loved and Hated.
Loved the room which was just what we needed. The hotel has a Sunday Rave, which was loud. Too loud for my two young kids. The bar at night by the pool was better than expected. Mary Jane's Restaurant was great for breakfast. My server, Nando was extremely efficient. The coffee was good too. Hated the 30 Per day parking fee. All in all it was a very nice stay in Downtown San Diego.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 39Great Time
We were a little skeptical after booking th ehotel and reading other reviews. It just so happened that we were staying for 5 days aroung the 4th of July. The hotel had "Bikini Week" listed as an upcoming event. So with a 7 year old and 11 year old we were nervous. Believe it or not we never were awakened to partygoers and we know that they were there. The greatest thing is that the bikini crowd was friendly and respectful to us as a family. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Woul dstay again especially with the convenient locale.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 39NOT FOR FAMILIES
The Hard Rock staff was polite and courteous. The hotel is clean and the location is ideal. However, do not stay here if you have children. The guests was similar to what you would find at a fraternity or spring break. Very young, very drunk, and very wild. I am not saying there isn't a place for this and I am certainly not knocking the hotel for catering to this demographic but the hotel should advertise with a disclaimer that is caters to this element.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 39GREAT!!!!!!
We went for 4th of july weekend and it was great. had a great balcony on a corner room and had fun chanting dodger chants off the balcony with all the other dodger fans at the hotel. the service was great, they were very accomidating. they were very fun and sweet too. also getting into the clubs were so easy there if your a guest. they put you on the list, no hassle. i would stay there every single time in san diego. its that great.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 39Great location
We loved the hotel and location. The hotel is located across from the trolley, which was great for visiting Old Town for the day. Unfortunately, I was not able to get the desirable spa treatment I requested to take advantage of the spa credit due to an emergency with the assigned staff; however, I was oferred a mini facial instead - that was nice! Spa was really nice and clean. Would definately recommend this hotel and look forward to come back without kids!!!

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 39Perfect weekend for sightseeing
Staying over a holiday weekend proved to be exciting with all of the activities planned in the hotel and surrounding area. Birthday bash's, concerts at the hotel provided a perfect evening out without leaving the hotel grounds. Great for couples looking for evening together and great night life!
