Trip Type: Special Event Review 1 of 49"outstanding customer service"
During our recent stay, the air conditioner in our room wasn't working right. The maintenance personel came and determined the unit needed to be replaced but none was available at the time. With no delay we were quickly tranfered to another room in the upper level of the hotel which had a much better view and cooler.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 2 of 49close to the beach
I was surprised that such an affordable hotel was only a short block to the beach. The zoo animals did make some noise late into the night and early morning, since my room was on that side of the hotel. Good value for the money.

We loved the view. Got a room on a high floor and at the end. Could see Diamond Head and the beach. Best part of the room. Block off beach.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 5 of 49Great room for the money
Spent most of time on the beach... so for just a bed and a shower this room was nice price...

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 49Great for local residents to spend a night to attend an event.
THE CHECK-IN WAS VERY PLEASANT. I ASKED FOR A ROOM NEAR THE ELEVATOR AND I GOT ONE. THE ELEVATORS MAY BE A BIT SLOW BUT IT'S A BUSY HOTEL. WE HAD A VERY NICE BREAKFAST IN THE RESTAURANT. OUR ROOM WAS COMFORTABLE WITH A FRIDGE BUT I WOULD HAVE ENJOYED THE COFFEE IF IT DIDN'T COST TO DRINK IT. MOST HOTELS OFFER IT COMPLIMENTARY AS A PLUS FOR STAYING THERE.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 8 of 49Expected the worst but got something much better.
The hotel is a little rundown but the room 1801 was great. A view over Diamond head, the ocean and Honolulu Zoo. Not bad at all. Traffic noise is negligible. The monkeys in the Zoo are noisy in the morning. The balcony comes with two chairs where you can have a nice beer in the late afternoon. AC unit is brand new. The cleaning lady was so nice to me. She gave me great advice what to do during my stay. What a wonderful person.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 9 of 49Oldy but a goody
Thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Close to where we wanted to be. Not modernly fancy, "old school" fancy. We really enjoyed it. We found out another couple payed twice the price for a lesser room by contacting the hotel directly. Woohoo Hotels.com!!

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 10 of 49Delightful
It was not what I expected but it was exceptional. We just needed someplace to stay becaues we did not want to drink and drive and so we needed a place to stay for the night. I am glad that I choose this hotel. It was fantastic and just minutes from our event. Also it was located perfectly to almost everything. I could have not asked for a better place to stay. Thank you for a great weekend.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 11 of 49Better then I expected!!
I loved our stay there. It was close to everything. The room was okay nothing fancy but hey I am not always picky and we were just trying to stay away from drinking and driving so it worked out perfect for us . The staff was awesome. The room needed a little hint of Hawaiian Breeze (glade) but overall, we enjoyed our weekend. Thank you Castle Queen Kapiolani Hotel! We would love to come and stay anytime. Aloha'z for now.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 12 of 49Beautiful ocean and Diamond Head views from our lanai
We booked at the last minute and were very pleased with this hotel. It's right across the street from the Honolulu Zoo and Kapiolani Park and one block to beach. The view from our lanai of Diamond Head and the ocean without any other buildings or hotels blocking the view was the best feature of the hotel, ask for room 1012. The hotel has a pool and lounging area and reasonable restaurant on the third floor. Great area to take morning and evening walks to check out Waikiki. The hotel staff was very friendly and the elevators were in fine working order. We will definitely stay here on our next visit.

Elevators: There were 3 elevators, but only 2 sometimes 1 is in operation. Restroom: Sink needs to be replaced. Everytime you sit on the toilet the cover of the reservoir moves. Cleanliness: Carpets need to be replaced. Coffee: I did not use the coffee as both wife and I do not drink coffee. I held the coffee and they were charging me for doing that, which I objected. Charges: Almost every move has a charge, like, the use of the safe, local calls for the phone, parking in hotel, etc.
