Trip Type: Business Review 2 of 11"Aloha spirit lives in heart of the employees"
It is far a few between to find a hotel in Waikiki where their employess is not tarnished by corporations and the ALOHA spirit lives within their smiles and customer service. The hotel is older, comfortable & clean. I would recommend this hotel, the Employees Hawaiian Hospitality is impecable. A room is a room those whom great you with warm smiles and eager assistance turns an ordinary room into paradise... Something that is slowly dimishing in Waikiki.....

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 11Not a "bad" place to crash ONLY!
The location is really good right next to the strip and the beach, zoo, and diamond head. But there is no AC, the hotel looks a little grungy, and the hall ways smell like smoke. But it depends on how cheap you can get a room for, but all in all its not a bad place to just "crash" after a long day or night out on the island, but keep in mind if your not on the windward side your going to wake up sweating.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 11Horrible
This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The carpet in the room was covered in stains, the bed did not have any fitted sheets, the blankets were dirty, the shower head was so low I had to kneel down to wash my hair, no fridge, and our non smoking room smelled like smoke. The whole non smoking floor smelled like smoke.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 11Old Hotel with Vibrant and Energetic Staff
The rooms were old, plain and simple. And the company did its best with what it had. The lighting in the hallways and main areas can be improve. The hotel is located next to a municipal parking lot in which it costs $0.25/hour for a maximum of 4 hours to park - but remember, the parking toll is in effect 24 hours a day. Don't get caught parking without paying or you'll pay the $35 ticket. The staff is by far the best assest this company has. From the valet to the front desk to the room cleaners, they are all top notch and very professional and courteous and totally embody the Aloha spirity. Aside from the oldness of the room and hotel, overall the experience was well worth the costs.

It's true you get what you pay for. It really felt and seemed like a prison or along that lines. Bad look and bad vibe.

The Queen Kapiolani was at one time a lovely holiday hotel. Great location just half a block from the beach with views of the beach and Diamond Head. However, it is obvious that the current owners are taking out the profits with little return to maintenance and upkeep. The hotel is in need of some renovation. She has been overused and under maintained for too long.
